In 2025, I released 31 episodes of the Ballet Science Podcast covering anatomy, biomechanics, injury prevention, performance psychology, strength training, and research on ballet across the lifespan.

The secret to lower middle splits has almost nothing to do with stretching. Yes, really. 👀

Most dancers focus on stretching deeper… but the real progress comes from training the muscles that support the position.

That’s why we love this breakdown from DFD Dance Specialist @trainwithkendall — she explains it exactly how dancers need to hear it:

➡️ Active stretches (like inner thigh slides) to build control
➡️ Mobility drills (like side lunge rocks) to open the hips through movement
➡️ Strength work for the hip abductors + external rotators to hold that range safely
