Burnt® Athlete @trainwithshelds reflects on racing the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona. “Kona tests you in ways you can never fully prepare for. I’m incredibly grateful to have raced on this stage with the world’s best.” Driven by discipline. Defined by the pursuit of more. Sorry, I can’t tell who this is in the image. It's a person finishing a race, arms raised triumphantly. They are wearing a race bib number 798, sunglasses, and a cap. They are draped in a flag. Spectators line the race course, capturing the moment with cameras.

Well done #TeamSA South Africa is truly humbled by the fight that you warriors put in this weekend. Choppy seas, brutal humidity and wind, baking heat. We saw many an athlete crumble out there. Professional athletes blowing up and falling apart, yet you guys endured. What an unbelievable performance on the world stage, doing the hardest race in one of the hardest places imaginable. We all salute you and are beyond proud. Enjoy it, celebrate it, you guys are spectacular! 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Seventeen South Africans. One start line. Today. 🇿🇦 Save this one. Every bib number is on the card, so you can follow all seventeen on the IRONMAN tracker — from Sheldon on 798 to Paul on 2547. They got here from Gqeberha, from Durban, from Mossel Bay — and some of them from Busselton and Tallinn, because the slot wasn't going to come to them. We've spent three weeks putting their numbers on this page. The PBs, the age-group wins, the national record, the years it took. Today none of that counts. Today it's 3.8km, 180km and a marathon in the Kona heat, and the only number that matters is the one on the clock at the end. Go well, Team SA. Every single one of you. 🇿🇦 Their results will be on SATriHub by Sunday — and so are yours, from every race you've done here. Search your name. The constant haze of Kona week. Always between shoots, always on the move, always squeezing in more plans than you have time for. A constant dance of shoot, edit, catch up, with a tiny measure of pedalling sprinkled in. I’ve tried to look at things differently this year. See the angles I couldn’t before, find new spots and make the most of each opportunity. Riding and creating at 2,800m on both Mauna Loa & Mauna Kea was always going to be special. And it’s no surprise it’s some of my favourite content, up there with my best ever work. And suddenly, you blink and it’s race week. The circus continues. 4 days until the big dance. 🌺 it’s heating up 🔥

Ho’ala Ironman training swim 🧜‍♀️ feeling the race week excitement in my natural habitat! The training swim was shortened due to potential jellyfish 🪼… grateful to report that there were none! So did an extra lap just for fun! #smilesunshine🦄🌈 #swimbikerun #xceedmultisport #imkona2026 #attitudeofgratitude
