Let’s talk medical. Frankly, it’s not talked about enough and certainly not trained even close to enough.

Rather than complain about it, we include a med block in EVERY class at Thunder Ranch. It’s that important.

For 2027 we’re taking it a step further: everyone in every class will be required to have an approved tourniquet on their person during class. It sounds drastic; but we believe this should be a bare minimum requirement across the board! Ideally, we recommend having a tourniquet on your person at ALL times- both on and off the range.

Don’t have a TQ yet? No problem, you can add one to your registration (at a discounted price) during class sign up, purchase in the pro shop when you arrive for class, or buy online at TRAINTR.com

Want to buy your own before you arrive? That’s cool too but whatever you do, DO NOT buy your tourniquets off Amazon. Full stop.

Buy only quality gear from quality manufacturers and retailers.

We want everyone to have and know how to quickly and properly use quality tourniquets because when a TQ is the answer, it’s probably the only thing that can save your life.

So excited to have earned @symtac_consulting coin #19! It was not easy - five tries over five years - but it all came together on this run. Earning the coin was great, but sharing the moment with great friends was even better! @trainwithwillis @davidcagle24 @aridus_industries @drew_carey86 @specimen7even

The Thunderbuddies™️ assembled on @symtac_consulting’s range during the final morning of the @thundersticksummit to watch our boy @frank_kickeez perform. He crushed the skills gauge test and successfully joined the elusive coin gang as the new owner of coin #19. This is one of my favorite groups of people to train with and be around, and its even better at the best event of the year. We are proud of you, brother Frank!!

Day 2 - Block 2 with Justin Dyal @dialed_in_training had a very performance based approach to the class that I greatly enjoyed! I really took away such a wealth of knowledge and base line of things to think over and train it on my own to help dial in my skills. Just simply learning to setup my stance and to breathe more made such an impact on the entire next day of training. Justin is a phenomenal guy had the pleasure to talk with him a small amount what stand up Dude as well as one of the best I’ve ever trained with! You would be doing yourself a huge favor by taking a class with Justin.

A nice recap of Shotgun Jamboree this year, hosted by Tactical Defense Institute. It was a super cool weekend with some unique offerings. Everyone that participated brought their A game. Be sure to keep an eye out for Shotgun Jamboree 2027 news!

A clip from the Shotgun Preformance block at this year's SOLD OUT Shotgun Jamboree at TDI.

There are a pile of small advantages to Violin Loading, one of which is the ease of supporting the gun. Ideally, the support arm tricep should be against your torso. Between this and the stock high on the shoulder, the weight of the gun is LARGELY supported by the skeleton structure, not by muscle. This makes a huge difference when things like strength and fatigue come into play, exponentially so if you factor in movement.

Next weekend I'll be back to shooting as a student and sponsor at the SOLD OUT Thunderstick Summit by Vang Comp!
