THE 55 EXPERIMENT | Back to the Gym ✨

After spending time in Italy and putting my gym membership on hold, I’ve found it surprisingly hard to get back into regular exercise, apart from my daily walks. But one thing I’m discovering about menopause is just how stubborn that extra weight can be. Even shifting a single kilo feels like a mission!

So, it’s time to step things up. Back to the gym, with regular workouts and sauna sessions whenever I can squeeze them in. Even in the middle of a crazy wedding season, I’m determined to make the time.

And it’s not just about weight. Exercise makes such a difference to my mental health, energy and ability to manage the stress of a busy wedding season.

Here’s to finding my rhythm again, one workout at a time.

Cha Cha @blossomfilm_ casually out here making me look like I have my life together 📸✨

Forever grateful for friends who see your vision and help turn it to reality ❤️‍🔥

I’m teaching now… so if you want to begin a little love/hate relationship with me, I promise you’ll always walk out loving yourself and feeling hot 🤍
My class is strong… but not in a scary, yelling, Arnold Schwarzenegger way.
More “Pulse a bit, breathe a bit, question your life choices briefly, mutter F**k Jess under your breath… then feel unreal after energy.

Anyway more of this over at @set_intent … book in or don’t, I’ll just be here living in Cha Cha’s camera roll 💅

recent moves building to the @run100au fuelled by @runxnutrition.

honey, i’m home 🍯 with their FUEL SHOT being the only gel in the world where 100% of carbs come from natural Australian ingredients.

with the amount of honey I consume each week, during workouts, on the long hauls, and with my first cup of coffee most mornings, the synergies were obvious.

thanks for believing in this legends @runxnutrition.

and yes, we’re about 16 days out from running 100KM to raise funds for the @the_buttery_aust.

it’s going to be amazing 🤍

move or lose…

reminiscing with @paceys_mate on how lucky we are to simulate difficultly in our little bubble 🌏 thanks for putting on the Minyon Rainforest 50 show @byronbayrunners.

On Friday 1st August, we get to do it all again — but this time, 100KM up and down the Byron Bay Lighthouse to raise funds for @the_buttery_aust.

So friggin’ excited. Link in bio to donate.

Where it all started… @natethornbury thanks for all of you’ve done for our community and @byronrunclub.

A clip from a recent recording with @paceys_mate at @pod_byron, unpacking the story behind the @run100au for the @the_buttery_aust.

Grateful to move and blessed to be able to create impact on a local level — with people, for people.

80% of the fundraising goal met due to some amazing individuals in my life who have gone above and beyond. We’re close, thanks to you.

More news coming. Link in bio to donate.

Big love.

i'v been choosing pleasure over productivity
and peace over constant stimulation for a bit. Feels good, a different kind of balance.

how do you train, and fuel for a 100KM overnight ultra marathon? 8 weeks out.

i don’t have the answer and it seems like a constant journey of education and re-education, but here’s some things that have helped so far:

1. rising early — the day is full of challenges, so when I can, I get some work in when everyone is asleep and the phone isn’t pinging; currently I’m setting a modest goal of a 60min climb on the stepper or some strength training each morning. the content in this post is from this morning.

2. carbs — i tend to go straight to sourdough, stacked with butter, banana and honey before any session (even the big runs).

3. energy — thanks to the team at @bodybeyond_ballina_supplements and @primabolics, I’m dosed up with caffeine and creatine to get me through.

4. warmth — @sqdathletica makes winter mornings simple and gives me that layer of comfort I need to get up, get out and find the discomfort that moves me, and all of us, forward.

5. community — you know who you are, but those supporting, donating and giving their energy to this @run100au fundraiser for @the_buttery_aust are driving me forward, as well as knowing from personal experience how important support services for mental health and addiction are.

if you can donate, no matter the size, it goes a long way to creating real impact for those in need: https://the-buttery.grassrootz.com/run100-a-lighty-laps-saga-for-the-buttery
