“What founders and entrepreneurs do is brutally hard, not just in hours or logistics, but in what it demands of you internally,” says Founder’s Hat participant and now coach, @lboujee.pgh. “It takes a real relationship with yourself, a willingness to keep meeting yourself honestly, over and over, especially when it’s inconvenient or even scary.” Looking for more thoughtful founder’s insights from Liana? Apply now for the 2026 Founder’s Hat cohort at the link in our bio. And if you want to know more about Liana and her journey starting @transitionalcharacters, head to LinkedIn to check out her full bio! #ascenderpgh #pittsburghentrepreneurs #smallbusinessmentorship #theplaceforfounders #transitionalcharacters

Are you a Pittsburgh area business owner who’s overwhelmed by all of your “jobs” as a founder? You’re the accountant, the marketing coordinator, the HR director, the sales person, and sometimes the janitor. No one truly understands this except your fellow entrepreneurs. That’s why Ascender has built the Founder’s Hat program. Every year we take a handful of local business owners and for five weeks put them in a room together to commiserate on their pain points, brainstorm solutions, and offer support. And every session, a coach (and fellow founder) will present on a topic that they are an expert in - from fundraising to self care. “How do I get in this room?” Well, applications are NOW OPEN for this year’s Founder’s Hat cohort. Only seven applicants will be accepted and applications close on August 15 - click on the link in our bio or visit ascenderpgh.com/founders-hat to apply. Good luck! #ascenderpgh #hubforfounders #founderfocused #pittsburghbusinessowners #pittsburghfoundernetwork

Pittsburgh and its institutions have failed Black women for far too long. Daphy Michel should still be with her family. ICE released her on the streets at night, an hour from home, without resources, without contacting her family, wearing summer clothes, and speaking very little to no English. Join us at the bus stop where she was found unresponsive to honor her memory and demand justice this Sunday at 7pm. Find the link in our bio to read more about ICE's consistent practice of medical neglect.
