POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The Space To Become goal was to create an experience to encourage ones transformation:
I thought I was the only one.
↓
I realize I’m not.
↓
I meet the different versions of myself.
↓
I understand the self that protected me.
↓
I meet the self I’m becoming.
↓
I see myself in other Vietnamese people.
↓
I realize there is no single way to be Vietnamese.
↓
I give myself permission to become.

I’m very proud & grateful every single one of our community who attended, attended because they desired to take that first step for themselves.

Here the answers for our community mosaic after being asked two questions:
1. The Vietnamese in me is…
2.Today I am making space for…
Congratulations!!! We are grateful You shared yourself with us & grateful you being a part of creating this space to become! 🇻🇳👏🏽

Sometimes, the most meaningful conversations begin with ourselves.

This past Sunday, we gathered for The Space to Become, an evening of reflection, journaling, and exploring our relationship with Vietnamese identity and belonging.

We asked questions we don’t always make time for. We reflected on the younger versions of ourselves, the experiences that shaped us, and the people we are still becoming.

Thank you to everyone who showed up with curiosity, openness, and the willingness to share a little of themselves.

A special thank you to Amy Minh Hạnh Corey (@amyminhhanh) for guiding us, and our community partners Trap Space and The Magpie for helping us bring this evening together.

We’re still learning, listening, and growing. And we hope to keep creating spaces where we can better understand ourselves and one another.

There is room for your story, too. 💙

After a 10-day Open Call and 40 film submissions, A-Ni-Mẩy 2026 has selected its Official Selections, featuring the 10 outstanding films, along with 5 films in the Mẩy’s Picks category - highlighting promising projects and works that stand out for their distinctive story or technical qualities. We’re excited to share all 15 films with you at the first screening of A-Ni-Mẩy 2026!

Event Details:
- Venue: TRAP SPACE, 12/67 Nguyen Huu Canh Street, Thanh My Tay Ward, Ho Chi Minh City
- Date: Friday, September 25, 2026

After the screening, we’re planning to have a little Mid-Autumn lantern parade and hang out together, so feel free to bring your own lantern if you have one! 🏮✨

We seriously can’t wait to see you all!!! ✨✨✨

These childhood photos belong to people in our community who have trusted us with their stories, their memories, and their questions about what it means to be Vietnamese.

So much of identity begins before we ever have the words to understand it. Who we were taught to be. Where we came from. Where we belonged. And sometimes, whether we felt Vietnamese enough.

Their stories, and so many others shared with us over the years, inspired us to create this next space.

THE SPACE TO BECOME
A Two Part Workshop for Vietnamese Identity, Belonging & Self

Together with Amy Minh Hạnh Corey (@amyminhhanh), we’ll explore the many ways we inherit, lose, question, reclaim, and become through reflection, writing, conversation, and community.

October 11 & 18, 2026 | 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Trap Space (@trapart.room), Hồ Chí Minh City

What does it mean to be Vietnamese? 💭

For each of us, the answer may be different.

The Space to Become is a two part workshop for exploring these questions. Not to arrive at one definition of what it means to be Vietnamese, but to make room for the many ways we inherit, lose, question, reclaim, and become.

Through reflection, writing, conversation, and community, we’ll explore identity, belonging, family, culture, and the selves we are still becoming.

You don’t have to choose between who you were, who your family imagined you would be, and who you are becoming.

There is space for all of it. There is space for all of you.
