I didn’t get a chance to post this on the anniversary (April 14) because I was in school and I had to focus up. But, on April 14, 2015, I released a challenge and not only did it go viral, but a lot of people joined in and started wilding!

I remember that day like it was yesterday.
I wore a suit to draw attention on the thumbnail.
I ironed the suit (half suit, really. I was wearing basketball shorts) and was rehearsing this rap like hell. Before I recorded the video, I said a prayer. I made sure to prop the camera right in front of me to make it look like a public announcement. I posted the video at 6pm. I watched Boy Meets World as the my notifications blew up. I challenged my bros to do it and told them they have one week. I had all of this in mind since the year prior. Everything was calculated.

The thing that made me the most emotional and humbled were the testimonies of the people who joined. Some said they got out of severe writer’s block. Some said they were inspired to write something for the first time. Some said their video got them opportunities. Some said they were inspired by me and all of that inspired me.

If you go on YouTube or Facebook and type in “One Mic Challenge,” you’ll see what I mean.

I’ve made some new friends off of this.
My bros contributed to this.
They’ve dubbed me “Mr. One Mic”.
I’ve performed this at an open mic

They even made a meme of me (check the carousel). I love what good music can do for you and others.

So, to celebrate the 10 year anniversary, here are a few of the many videos that contributed to the culture.
