Name: Lafras van Vuuren
Age: 21
Birthplace: Pretoria
Nickname: die lang gras, matras, gangkas, Ellisras, reënjas, moeras, kompas, Pete Sampras, bloudas, kontras, ratkas, Larry
Player role: Off-spin bowler
Favourite shot: doesn't bat enough to have one
Background:

Lafras attended Pretoria Boys High School where he represented the 1st XI for 3 years and received full colours for cricket. He has gone on to represent the South African u/21 action cricket team and he also coaches school cricket. He is currently studying BEd Human Movement at the University of Pretoria.

Lafras has established himself as the premier frontline spin bowler in the 2nd XI (CE van der Dussen may have been able to dispute this if he actually turned the ball). Larry takes pride in his batting but has seen limited opportunity with the bat due to the strong batting line-up in the 2nd team. His most famous innings came at the start of 2019 when he, along with Travis Broughton, steered the 2nds out of trouble from 110/8 to the 180 runs required for victory on a tricky Laudium pitch.

Apart from being a fine cricketer, Lafras is generally described as a wonderful bloke "wat te veel kuier". Luckily, this is not frowned upon at Old Boys and thus Larry has found a second home at the Club. We look forward to many more seasons and nicknames with Lafras🏏
