What an incredible weekend.

They say it’s just an honor to be nominated. It really is. And looking at the loads of talented reporters from Seattle I was up against this year for Best Reporter of Daily News, I expected it to be nothing more than that. An honor. However… I won! Truly unexpected and I was left in shock as I tried to ramble off the names of all of the people who put me in the position to even be on the stage accepting such an award. Surreal. I kept thinking “How did I get here?” I’m still not entirely sure.

I am my biggest critic and can be pretty hard on myself, so it’s hard for me to pat myself on the back. Even writing this I feel awkward. But I’m trying to celebrate the wins in life. I know I wouldn’t be here without the support and encouragement of my family, my bosses and my co-workers. And I definitely wouldn’t be bringing home any of these things if it wasn’t for the talents of Photojournalist Gabe Ferguson, who takes my ideas and words and brings them to life like only he can.

Emmy #2 came from a special we did surrounding the importance of organ donation and was driven by the passion and dedication of @khqhayley. I was glad to contribute to that in any way I could, however small.

I’m also so incredibly proud of the entire team at KHQ. All of them. They did some amazing work during yet another very difficult year and their ambition and talent makes for a very bright future. I’m thankful to work alongside them.

Of course, the stories I tell or the show I anchor doesn’t mean much if nobody is watching, so thank you to YOU for tuning in and supporting. It’s an honor.

- Cheers to the weekend!

- Yesterday was my last story in Moscow for the time being. We’ll be down here for the preliminary hearing in about 5 months and I’m going to try to be down here at least a couple of times a month, prior, to keep this story in the limelight.

I can tell you this… students are back on campus. The @uidaho vibe is mostly back, but a sense of hurt, anger, and fear still lingers. Nothing will change what happened here exactly two months ago, today, but with each other, we will pull through as the wheels of justice turn slowly and exceedingly fine. Justice will come, and I pray it will bring some type of closure to our home.
