On this day, September 19, 1995, Tar dropped “Over and Out.”

The Chicago band made tense, heavy records that never needed to rush. This one was their final album & it still sounds like a band completely sure of its own strange rhythm.

A great one to pull out if your ‘90s post-hardcore shelf runs deeper than the familiar names.

Salute!

Thank you @eaxlr for listing 𝘾𝙄𝘼𝙉𝙄/𝙊𝙍𝙆𝙀𝙎𝙏 from @sevwave, @metropoleorkest, & @this_machine_feels_ on the ‘10 Great Ambient Albums of Summer 2026’ column for @treblezine.

“What distinguishes CIANI/ORKEST is its rejection of the retrospective impulse, as well as its commitment to an unprecedented meeting of synthesizer and orchestra as a forward-facing statement rather than a survey.”

A former bassist for the alt-rock acts Hole and The Smashing Pumpkins, Melissa Auf der Maur is also a prolific photographer. Over the next few days, she's going to be unveiling a unique project in three installments starting with the opening of a museum exhibit titled "My '90s Rock Photographs" at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto tomorrow, followed by the release of a double-faceted album by the name of "BASS WOMB ROOM: My ’90s 4-Track Demos x Field Recordings" this Friday, and lastly a photobook sharing the same name of the exhibit that's coming out on September 8th. We had a great talk about all of this, and you can give it a read in Treble!!! -

Happy Release Day to @dossantoschi! Their new album Es Amor is truly a heart-felt, life-affirming call for togetherness, whether that be in the streets or on the dance floor.

We couldn’t be more excited to see so many folks connecting with the music this week. From @bandcamp including it in today’s Essential Releases column, to @treblezine naming it their Album Of The Week, to @sandritatrevino’s in depth conversation with the band in @chicago_reader, and the high-fidelity heads @qobuz who made it their Editor’s Top Pick, today is a great day to celebrate a great band and their fantastic new album.

Head to the linktree in our bio to read the full articles.
While there you can also order your copy of the Vinyl, which are now shipping and hopefully headed to a turntable near you!

The band is celebrating with dates this week in Madison, WI and their hometown of Chicago for the @sound_and_gravity festival before heading down to Raleigh, NC for @hopscotchfest the week after.

Plenty more dates to come throughout the Fall. Head to dissantoschi.com for tickets and more details.

“bleary, somber opening textures… evocative soundscapes… dense, velvety consistency… this album’s joy is that there is a particular vision of what drone and minimal electronics can achieve.”

Review this week in @treblezine for @abulmogard & @blackknoll album, Where Light Pauses In The Silence of the Sun.
Thanks @eaxlr 🙏🏻
