I first came to Big Sur over 10 years ago on a spring break road trip. Since then, I’ve returned nearly every year - answering the constant call of the waves and the mountains.

Something about it always rejuvenates me. Maybe it’s the way that it’s barely changed since that first trip. Maybe it’s the memories I’ve made hiking the coastline. At one point, the call to run to Big Sur was so strong, we drove an extra two hours around the road closures just so we could land at our favorite place @treebonesresort.

Everyone has that place that feels like home. The place where your soul can rest. Big Sur has been that place for me and I’m endlessly grateful for it.

We’re back home now - gearing up for more work, more events & more flowers. But I’m always so thankful for the way Big Sur breathes life back into my spirit every time.

Highway 1 to Big Sur is OPEN!

One of our all-time favorite coastal drives is back: 100 miles of raw and rugged coastline, redwood forests, cypress, riverbeds of jade, secluded coves, and endless pull-offs to absorb it all in.

Ever since the road first opened in the 1930s, Highway 1 has seen its share of temporary closures. A massive coastal mountain range thrust up against the vast Pacific, Big Sur sits on the front line of the elements, enduring powerful winter swell, high winds, landslides, and wildfires during the dry season.

With all it endures, our respect for Big Sur runs deep. When it came time to build a @distant_local Big Sur map, we knew we had a large task ahead of us. Thank you to our partner shops for supporting us all the way through. We are so stoked you are loving the product and we are excited to keep it going.
