My kids threw me a party this weekend and it was one of the best of my life! I cannot describe the joy and love I felt all around me as people I hold near and dear just kept walking through the front door. I felt such a deep and humble gratitude to realize people in my life would show up to mark this moment with me. (A moment that - beforehand - I wasn’t so keen on celebrating!)

But magic ensued! I was surrounded by my kids, my partner, family, friends, former students, neighbors - just so many people who have walked alongside me during so many different chapters in my life. People traveled from Virginia, Vermont, Colorado, Oregon, Seattle, Chicago, Missoula, Idaho, and from the little towns nearby. The food was all made by my kids and amazing. A talented local musician and a former student shared their music. My sewing friends and neighbors came and we topped off the celebration with a perfect campfire and a show courtesy of the northern lights.

I cannot express the love I felt from those who were here and those who called or messaged or video chatted with me. It was overwhelming but each person fed my heart. Thank you so much. So much. I have a blessed life and beautiful people with whom to share it.
🙏🩷🙏

This image is from @lorneriddell driveway in Trout Creek MT, effectively my childhood home… I don’t know the exact year, but I’m gonna say this was from around 2006 or 7…

Oh the many feelings this ski season,

saddened that greed and profit are at the center of impactful decisions

humbled by the simplicity of the mountain and the freedom skiing brings

and reminded of the joy & sense of belonging in community

another season and another opportunity to do something I love with people I love.
