Michael Buck on Thursday: “I always say it’s much harder being on this side of the white line than it is being on the pitch, but what an opportunity we’ve got. We’re not there to make the numbers up, let’s be clear.”

“We see ourselves to challenge anything that can happen. It’s the FA Cup. We’re going to go there with every intention to get ourselves into the draw for the first round.”

It’s uncharted territory for Tadley Calleva on Saturday with the possibility of an FA Cup First Round Proper appearance just 90 minutes away.

Not that anyone at the Hampshire club, based just inside the Berkshire border, is getting carried away with the magnitude of the task ahead against Enterprise National League and 2025 FA Trophy winners Aldershot Town.

Football in Berkshire was given an exclusive interview with manager Joe Lawler and First Team Coach Michael Buck, as well as club sponsor Jason Nash.

We’ve made some space. Naturally, we’re going to fill it with plants. 🌳

Six to eight weeks of hard graft in Surrey means more room for stock and quicker order turnaround. After a summer that didn’t know when to leave, rootball lifting is underway, with hedging and trees arriving too.

The New Forest team have kept things moving through a tough summer, Chelsea R&D is underway with around 1,500 plants already on the ground, and Liam and Ed are flat out with bulbs and bedding in London.

Got an autumn planting list? Send it over and let’s get it sorted. Or pop into London, walk-ins always welcome.

Strengthening the supply chain starts with protecting plant health.

Every decision about where plants and trees come from, how they’re grown and how they’re moved or planted can make a difference.

As our ambassador, landscape designer and BBC presenter Adam Frost says: “We have a responsibility to know where our plants are coming from, really understand your supply chain.”

Today’s theme for @growninbritain Week is Strengthening the Supply Chain, so we’re sharing our Who is Plant Healthy for? video to highlight the part we can all play.

From growers and nurseries to landscapers, garden designers and arboriculture professionals, we all have a part to play in reducing the risk of spreading harmful plant pests and diseases.

Watch our members explain why plant health matters and how Plant Healthy certification can support good biosecurity practice across the sector.

Together, we can be Plant Healthy.

Every footballer has a favourite goal they scored. Vividly-recreating it at celebrations and team events on repeat.

As part of a new feature, Football in Berkshire is celebrating those incredible moments that go the fans on their feet. From defenders who didn’t get many, strikers who have a spreadsheet to choose from and maybe just a goalkeeper or two.

First up, Tadley Calleva’s Michael Buck recounts a winning goal for @bracknelltownfc against @mkdonsfc on Tuesday 11th November 2008.

We have a responsibility to guard against climate change. Designer @thelandscapetailor believes we should be including solutions to water management as s fundamental part of the garden design development and processes. August was the hottest month globally since records began and this topic is not going to disappear. The conversations we are having now are vital for the survival of our industry, and the longevity of the plants and the wildlife habitats that we love in our gardens.

Join him on Thursday 17th September 2pm to 5pm, with @treeman_michael Head of Horticulture for Creepers Nursery, and @tony_kirkham_trees , former head of Arboretum, Gardens and Horticulture services at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, to discuss what we can be doing in landscaping and horticulture to safeguard for the future.

New episode!

Today we welcome @treeman_michael from @creepersnursery to the pod!

He shares how he pivoted from football to horticulture, his role as head of horticulture and the issues facing his part of the industry.

Obviously there's preamble from Lewis and bryony so if you want to skip straight to Michael - which is entirely reasonable - skip the first 20 minutes.
