Got to sneak out of work for a bit, hang with the Lovemelts, and see my favorite local band Astralblak/Zuluzuluu for free just a few blocks from where I work. The super bowl ain’t all bad! It was Phoenix and Kaiya’s first ever concert, first ever bus ride, and first ever time seeing a real life actual transformer (the humvees on every block). Yes it mostly sucks, but I still think you should check out the super bowl stuff if you haven’t already, if you can brave the cold, the crowds, and the military occupation. It won’t be back till we spend another zillion dollars on a new stadium in 25 years.

2 years ago @zuluzuluumusic said "what if we played afropunk?" This past weekend that dream was manifested! It's so hard to put into words how much this meant and how great it felt. Thank You @afropunk for the opportunity! This festival is SO necessary and sooo drastic! There are so many sides to the black experience, and afropunk says "we see you and your experience deserves to be recognized!". Infinite thanks to all the fam who came down from the twin cities to support as well! Love ya'll! 📷 by @fotosforbarcelona . #afropunkatl #afropunkatlanta #zuluzuluu #blackexcellence #blackjoy #afropunk #blackness #tribe #vibes #fashion #tourlife #roadlife #blackmusic #altblack

WHOLESOUL was asked to submit a menu to the 10 DAY SUPERBOWL FESTIVAL! Whether we are chosen as a needle in a haystack or not, we KNOW what the people always say! "LIKE SERIOUSLY THAT WAS THE BEST CATFISH I HAVE EVER TASTED!" THIS IS THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE AND AWARD WINNING KATSNACK". YOU KNOW IT IS SOOOOOUL GOOT IF IT FAR EXCEEDS OUR DELISH. "WINGS THAT'LL MAKE YOU SING!" In sales! "THE KATSNACK" is Golden fried catfish seasoned to PERFECTION with our special "KATSBLEND" seasoning. BEWARE IT COMES STRAIT OUT OF FRESH HOT GREASE! and NEVER FISHY! Place it next to a SOULFUL SIDE and YOU WILL BE MOVED!!! People insist on still taking a bite right when handed to them and risk burning their mouth even after the WARNING! They are use to the BIG BEAUTIFUL CARNY LIKE FOOD TRUCKS that hold food under heating lamps. This fish is delish and crisp even COLD! I usually HATE cold fish or chicken, but not WHOLESOUL'S! www.wholesouleatery.com

Day 3 is favorite album of the last five years, and mine has to be 'what's the price?' by zuluzuluu. i'm well aware that most of you will have no idea what zuluzuluu is, but do yourself a favor and educate yourself. zuluzuluu is a minnesota based group that makes funk and soul with elements of hip hop. each member is multitalented and has a completely individual sound but FUCK do they mix well. i found out about this group because the groups resident rapper greg grease is one of my favorite mc's of all time. MMYYKK is a god on synth, but is also a really great vocalist. taylor is the primary vocalist and brings so much passion and soul with his delivery. dj just nine is on the records and produces, and his production chops are ill. trelly is on the beats and produces, and is the back bone of alot of the coolest grooves. art parte is the dude on the guitar and bass, if you want an idea of him just listen to the last track 'fall behind'. i'm not gonna spoil anything about this album, but just know how ill it is. 'what's the price?' exemplifies what kinetic funk can really be.
