These are baseball athletes - the last two are pitchers 👀

Expressing qualities that “have nothing to do with your sport” is one of my favorite parts of a peak training phase.

Specificity is a dead argument. The only thing that has a direct transfer to your hyper-specific sport task is the task itself. Every other adaptation is indirect.

That means my goal actually isn’t to make these guys better baseball players (even if that is the desired outcome). My role is to improve raw physical outputs and the ability to express these outputs within a spectrum of dynamic tasks.

Output is the goal. Expression is the goal. Stable and variable training interventions are the tools.

Then go play your sport.

Output ➡️ Expression ➡️ Athleticism ➡️ Specificity

Elite expression of rotational power from three high-level college baseball athletes.⚡️

Contrary to some common belief - this a trainable quality outside of your sport. Greater force and RFD within stable conditions aren’t the only answer. Sequencing and force transfer play a major role, and these are things we can improve in training. 🗣️

💪 Elevate Your Baseball Performance with BFR Training! ⚾
stricted Blood Flow:

How it works!

1️⃣🩸Limits venous return while maintaining arterial inflow, creating a unique environment for muscle growth and adaptation.

2️⃣ 🔥 Metabolic Stress: Traps lactate and other byproducts, signaling your body to release growth hormones for muscle repair and strength.

3️⃣ 💪 Muscle Fiber Activation: Engages fast-twitch fibers at low loads, mimicking high-intensity training without heavy weights.

👉 Benefits for Wrist Flexors/Extensors:
• 🔥 Accelerated Strength Gains: Boost wrist flexor/extensor strength with low-load training that minimizes joint stress. Perfect for pitchers and hitters!
• 💡 Enhanced Muscle Activation: Engage fast-twitch fibers for explosive power without heavy resistance.
• ⏳ Faster Recovery: Improve muscle endurance and recovery after high-intensity games or practices.

👉 Injury Mitigation:
• ❌ Prevent Overuse Injuries: Reduce strain on the wrist, elbow, and shoulder while building strength.
• 📉 Lower Risk of UCL Injuries: Strengthened forearm muscles provide better support for elbow stability.
• 🛡️ Protect Against Tendonitis: Reinforce tendons and soft tissue to handle the repetitive stress of throws and swings.

🚨 Why Baseball Players Need This:
From pitching precision to powerful swings, strong and resilient wrists are a game-changer. BFR helps you stay on top of your game without overloading your joints. 🙌

⚾ Upper Trap Muscle Tightness: The Serratus Anterior & Levator Scapulae.

Excessive scapular depression and downward rotation often leads to the neck feeling tight and often mistaken for upper trap tightness.

🔍 Serratus Anterior: When weak, it cannnot provide full upward rotation to the scapula.

🔍 Levator Scapulae: Tightness here can present clinically with downward rotation, and limited ability for overhead activities like pitching.

⚠️ Pro Tip: Soft tissue work to the levator scapulae in combination with serratus anterior strength progressions are key to resolving pain!!
