Merci à @flaviagillioz du @lenouvellistevs pour ce bel article avec André Guinnard et moi, consacré aux télécabines de Savoleyres. Aujourd’hui, c’est le dernier jour pour la plus ancienne remontée mécanique encore en fonction en Suisse. C’était vraiment un plaisir de parler de la place qu’elle occupe dans l’histoire de Verbier. On se retrouve là-haut pour une dernière montée !

Pretty special to join my parents in Verbier as a surprise for dad’s 83rd birthday. Got to ski with my mum (78 and crushing it in pink Orage and SunGods). At dad’s birthday lunch in the sun I lent him my SunGods and he looked so damn good in them, they felt obliged to give him a pair (thank you Zoe, Ali & Dennis)! Then mum finally replaced her 12 year old ski boots (look how happy she is) and I rounded out the shopping spree (and my quiver) with the irresistible limited edition Faction Dancers designed by none other than my old colleague @trickedbytrash. #sungod #seebetter #alpineblush @we_are_sungod @sungod_basecamp

The Dancer 1 Verbier; the ultimate tribute to our hometown. @verbier4vallees–our stomping ground–will soon replace the historic Savoleyres gondola. It started spinning in 1970, when skiing was carefree and hedonistic as ever. Verbier artist Sam Bruchez (@trickedbytrash) took the original blueprints of this iconic télécabine and using the Dancer 1 as the platform, he gave them a new home on this cyanotype topsheet. In with the old, in with the new. Keeping with tradition, this ski is used by Verbier’s world-class mountain patrol. Flip the ski, and the bright emblems of mountain safety will illuminate the snow below you. Marking 75 years of @verbier4vallees; available now at the 🔗. Stock limited.

🎿 @essverbier a toujours occupé une place particulière dans ma vie. Mon enfance a été marquée par l’école de ski, où mes parents étaient tous deux moniteurs. Mon père, Daniel, était guide de montagne, et ma mère, Frances, donnait des cours aux enfants. Je passais mes hivers à faire des courses au Ski Club Alpina avec mes amis, dont plusieurs sont aujourd’hui moniteurs de ski à l’ESSV. En travaillant sur le livre « Traces », mes propres souvenirs ont influencé sa conception et sa présentation. Plutôt que de traiter les photos et les entretiens comme de simples reliques historiques, j’espère que les émotions et la cordialité des récits transparaîtront et susciteront de nouvelles conversations au sein de notre communauté. • 🎿 @essverbier has always held a special place in my life. My childhood was shaped by the ski school, where my parents were both instructors. My father, Daniel, was a mountain guide, and my mother, Frances, taught the children’s classes. I spent my winters racing at Ski Club Alpina with my friends, several of whom are now ESSV ski instructors . While working on the book “Traces,” my own memories influenced the design and presentation. Rather than treating the photos and interviews as historical artifacts, I hope the emotions and warmth of the stories shine through and spark new conversations within our community.
