Show 97 part 1. Chimera Fest! A trans punk benefit for @fund_the_inside with nothing but killer bands all day. Great to see Trick the Riddle again, I think they've leveled up quite a bit (and yes the shot of Lucretia clenching her teeth is during the teeth clenching song), Already Late gave an incendiary performance with amazing stage presence(and naturally I dig the horns), and Atrophy Wife were super cool and kicked everybody's asses. Rubulad also a very cool space I was glad to check out and this was only the first half of the show

July 3rd, 2026

My plans for July 4th fell through due to a heat wave so I decided to take up an offer from @tricktheriddle to attend their album release show instead!

As soon as I got to the venue, the band's booking person, Allison (@/allison.skier, @/wndrlnd.prdctns) ambushed me because this was the third time in 3 weeks we've ran across each other at a tricktheriddle show. Of course she knew I was Guyanese, and it's rare for me to find someone else of Guyanese descent in the scene. We chatted a bunch before the show began and she told me that she was going to be doing the lighting for tricktheriddle's set.

The night started off with @sundaysaari who I saw a couple of weeks ago at Purgatory's Queer Street Day. At this point I was obsessed with them. The band's stage presence was incredible and they know how to put on an amazing show.

After the band closed out, I was checking out other people's stories. There's this one scene photographer that I've been obsessed with for about a year now because her pictures were stunning. I tapped on her story, and she posted a photo taken just a few feet in front of me. I was able to spot the lovely Simone (@/no.caves). We chatted a bit between sets throughout the night, and she even taught me some shutterdrag techniques.

Up next was @withoutsinmusic who are new to the scene. Once again, an incredible performance and I'm super excited to see where they're headed.

Then, the band that got me out there, tricktheriddle took the stage and put on such an amazing show. Celebrating their album release of "a chance encounter with the everpresent", the band went wild. With the help of Allison on the lights, it was the best set I've seen from them yet.

I ambushed Allison this time as she got out of the sound/lighting booth and had to convince her that she did a great job on lights. Allison ended up buying myself and Simone shots.

Closing out the night were @thepetaltones who were so much fun. It looked like the band were having a non-stop party on the stage. Band members went into the crowd multiple times, climbed on the drums, fell to the floor, it was crazy. I had a wonderful time, and I'm so glad I made it out to the show!

👻💥SATURDAY OCT 10TH💥👻
NIGHTMARE ON SESAME STREET

An evening dedicated to impracticality, brought to life in our event fable:

To making new friends. To CONSTRUCTING new friends.

To the tales (and tails?) that activate our senses because they’re made of the same things as we are:

Blood. Sweat. Tears.
Clay. Felt. Pipecleaners.

This Halloween, we invite you to confront the thing that frightens you most - Touch it! Taste it! Construct it out of cardboard and stick your head into it!

Come in your most fantastic and superfluous costume and witness the papier mache decor. Stay for the laborious music (opera singers, punk bands…). For the tedious stick and pokes. For the bumpy Pony rides by a cursed Pokey. For the friction. For the magic.
