from the pool at age 7 to the Ironman start line at age 24, this is the full story :)

spinal fusion, redshirt year, learning who i am without sports, watching my mom do something i thought was genuinely insane.... and somehow ending up here training for my 3rd Ironman

it was never a straight line but it’s all been worth it. I have loved the journey through every step of and wouldn’t want it any other way :)

✅ 3-hour ride

✅ back at AMP

✅ the best training vibes

There’s nothing like a long ride day with trilabs (except it’s even better when we ride outside) Coming home to train always hits different, especially when i’m surrounded by people who make the hours fly by :) @trilabs_amp @marytobiason_trilabscoaching

✋🏻 stop making ironman training harder than it needs to be

I used to think solo grinds were the only way to build mental toughness but after this week I realise the more the merrier!

solo training definitely builds grit but training with a group is what this sport is about

i’m so thankful I found this community! @trilabs_amp

Being an athlete has been the greatest gift of my life.

Sports have given me more than I ever could have imagined - confidence I didn’t know I had, resilience I had to build from scratch, and a sense of purpose that’s carried me through everything. But above all else it’s given me community.

I’ve met some of the strongest women I’ve ever known thanks to swim/athletics/triathlon. Women who push through pain, who show up even when it’s hard, and who lift each other up. Women who’ve taught me that strength is WAY more than just physical.

I share my journey here because I hope it inspires even one woman or girl to believe she’s capable of more than she ever imagined!! To take that first step, try that new sport, or push past whatever boundary she thought was holding her back. You are capable of so much more than you know :)

On #WomenAndGirlsInSportsDay, I’m grateful for every early morning, every sore muscle, every moment of doubt that I pushed through because all of it led me here

what I wish I knew BEFORE day #1.

I have a habit of going all in on my hobbies from day one, but if I could go back in time and talk to my day 1 self, I would tell her to stop researching the most expensive bikes and to take a chill pill.

Starting your tri journey is so exciting! but it can also be overwhelming. there is so much gear, so much jargon, and lots and lots and lots of miles.

I’m posting this series to pull back the curtain on everything I have learned so far (sometimes the hard way lol)

slide 1 - you don’t have to jump straight into a full Ironman! get to know the distances and try them all out! You may love a sprint tri but haaaate an olympic, it really depends on the person.

slide 2 - there is no magic training structure, but you also can’t just go on a few runs and wing it. good structures are based on what YOU can be consistent with.

slide 3- you need to embrace the boring. most training sessions aren’t Instagram-worthy. they are repetitive and dull. but boring are where the engine is built.

slide 4 - the hardest part isn’t anything physical, it’s mental. I’m sure you’ve heard your mind gives up way before your body is ready to and… it’s true!

slide 5 - the medal is great to hang on your wall but it’s not the point. something my coach would always say is “what’s your why” because when you are in the deeeep deeep dark scary parts of the pain cave you have to have a through line that keeps you grounded.

How I structure a full week of Ironman training to avoid burnout. Most importantly you have to have fun :)
