MACK JAY – LAST HOPE (2010) | DIRECTED BY JIMMY CHIBA

Before Mack Jehu, there was Mack Jay. 🎤

Released in 2010, Last Hope captures an important chapter in my journey as a UK hip-hop lyricist. Directed by Jimmy Chiba, the music video reflects a period of growth, determination and belief in the music, representing a time when I continued to push forward and pursue my passion.

Looking back, this is more than just a music video. It’s a piece of my history, a reminder of where the journey began and the importance of never giving up on your dreams.

Different name, same passion. The journey continues. 💯

MACK JAY – CHIBA FLICKS FREESTYLE (2011) | DEPTFORD, LEWISHAM

Throwing it back to 2011, when Mack Jay stepped outside in Deptford, Lewisham, to deliver a freestyle for Jimmy Chiba’s platform, Chiba Flicks. 🎤🔥

Spitting over the instrumental of Lloyd Banks’ Beamer, Benz or Bentley, featuring Juelz Santana, this freestyle captures a moment in my journey as a UK hip-hop lyricist, showcasing my hunger, lyrical ability and dedication to the craft.

Before the name Mack Jehu, there was Mack Jay, putting in the work and expressing myself through the music.

Different era, same passion. A piece of my journey preserved on camera.

MACK JEHU – TWAS MEANT TO BE FREESTYLE 🎤🔥

Sometimes, you have to go back to the music that inspired you and pay homage to the artists who helped shape the culture.

I chose to freestyle over Swiss's Twas Meant to Be from his timeless album Pain and Music, to show respect to a UK music pioneer who made his mark with the legendary So Solid Crew before continuing his own musical journey with hits like Cry

For me, this freestyle is about more than rhyming over a classic beat. It's about expressing real experiences through lyricism, wordplay and storytelling.

From mental health, past trauma and fake friendships to faith, family, survival and overcoming life's obstacles, these bars reflect my journey and the importance of using music to heal rather than hurt.

"I'm here to heal, not to attack. It's real when you feel what I rap.

Music has always been my outlet to express what's on my mind. Big respect to Swiss for the original classic. This is my way of showing love to the music while adding my own voice and perspective.

MACK JEHU ft. LEON DON – LOST ORIGINALS 🌍✊🏾

Lost Originals is a powerful reflection on African and Caribbean identity, heritage and reconnection. 🇬🇭🌍

Inspired by the Year of Return, the song reflects on Black Americans and Caribbean people reconnecting with their African roots, particularly in Ghana.

In my verse, I touch on the possibility of marrying a West Indian queen, highlighting how language became a barrier between African and Caribbean people despite our shared ancestry. I also pay homage to Marcus Garvey, whose powerful speeches left me speechless, reminding us of the importance of Black unity, history and self-awareness.

Through expressions such as “Yɛda wo ase” and “Selassie, me da wo ase” — meaning “We thank you” and “Selassie, I thank you” — I blend Ghanaian language with English to honour both sides of the coin: Africa and the Caribbean.

Lost Originals is more than music; it's a reminder of who we are, where we come from, and the importance of reconnecting with our roots. A message that remains relevant this UK Black History Month and beyond. 🖤❤️💛💚

🎵 MACK JEHU feat. ELISHA MYTON – NEEDS (DJ WIZDOM AFRO BEATS REMIX) 🎵

Mack Jehu and Elisha Myton’s Needs gets a fresh Afro Beats interpretation from DJ Wizdom, bringing a new rhythmic energy to the song while keeping its relationship-focused message at the heart of the record.

🔥 The Remix: DJ Wizdom’s Afro Beats production gives Needs a smoother, more vibrant groove, creating a different atmosphere from the original while allowing the vocals and message to remain central.

🎤 The Lyrics: Mack Jehu explores the things that truly matter within a relationship, with Elisha Myton adding another vocal dimension to the record.

🎬 The Music Video: The visuals help bring the song’s relationship theme to life, matching the emotion and energy of the remix.

❤️ The Concept & Message: “Needs” is a song about the strength in a relationship — love, support, trust, understanding and being there for each other. It explores the idea that a strong relationship is built on what two people genuinely need from one another, rather than simply what they want.

The DJ Wizdom Afro Beats Remix gives Needs a fresh lease of life, blending UK hip-hop with Afro Beats influences while keeping the heart of the original message intact.

Mack Jehu feat. Smooflow — They Don’t Like Me : A Track Breakdown

Mack Jehu teams up with Smooflow on They Don’t Like Me,” the opening track from Jehu’s 2025 album They Didn’t Like Me. The album features 12 tracks and runs for around 38 minutes, with the record moving through themes of personal experience, struggle, reflection, spirituality and resilience.

The Lyrics

They Don’t Like Me carries the feeling of being judged, misunderstood or rejected while refusing to let outside opinions define your identity. The lyrics can be read as a statement of independence: when people decide they don't like you, the response is not necessarily to change yourself, but to keep moving forward and stay true to your own path.

Mack Jehu and Smooflow bring contrasting voices to the track, giving the song a conversational, back-and-forth energy. Rather than simply focusing on negativity, the track turns rejection into motivation and self-belief.

The Video

The official music video adds a visual dimension to that message, giving the track a stronger sense of personality and attitude. It works alongside the lyrics as a visual statement about individuality, opposition and continuing to move despite what others think.

As the album's opening track, They Don’t Like Me also sets the tone for They Didn’t Like Me, introducing listeners to a project built around real-life observations and personal reflection. The album was released on October 14, 2025.
