Still processing how amazing it was to be part of something so special like Matilda with KOTA Productions at Theatre Row! 🥹🎭✨
Looking through all these photos, I keep thinking about all the little moments that happened in between them—the rehearsals, the laughs, the crazy days, the nerves, the friendships, and all the memories that made this experience so much more than just a show.
Getting to be in NYC, perform at Theatre Row, and be surrounded by such an incredibly talented and hardworking team was seriously a dream. ❤️
I’m so grateful for every person who helped bring this show to life and for every little moment I got to be a part of. I wish I could go back and do it all over again!

When I grow up📚

And just like that I made my Off-Broadway debut✨
I will forever be grateful for Matilda, and each and every person who helped me on to this stage. I will live in awe of the life I am lucky enough to live and the people I am lucky enough to meet forever.

To @actingcoachjeorgi @caseyesbin @itsalexrenee @whoisjnap thank you endlessly for the being a creative team beyond compare. You have given me the chance to live out my dreams, and you have each taught me lessons I will carry with me my whole career.

To @laura.luc simply put, thank you for creating a program filled with love. I am forever inspired.

To the entire crew and backstage team, thank you for making this show so smooth and filling our environment with constant joy. I will miss laughing about balloon animals with @katelynkarcher @ellierberry @daniellembecht @tyler_w.w

To my fellow cast members, thank you all for being the most creative, kind, and intelligent group of people I have worked with. Bringing the magic of Matilda to life with you all was my greatest pleasure.

Oh, Matilda.
My very first Broadway callback as a tiny bean and my favorite musical of all time.
There are no words for my love for this show.
The first video is me singing Quiet (filmed on an ancient artifact), just before ending up in my first NYC show with KOTA. If I could go back and tell 8 year-old-Iris that her senior-center performances were the beginning of a lifelong passion, she would be so encouraged.
During our closing show, I was actively crying while singing When I Grow Up, thinking about how the last time I performed a full-length show on a stage was when I was truly such a little girl.

Getting to portray Miss Honey was so close to my heart and such an honor. She digs into deep childhood hurt, feelings of being inadequate, learning to stand up when needed, while still being a gentle and safe place, and taking lessons from the part of herself that she sees in Matilda.

I am so grateful to @kotaproductions , specifically @laura.luc and @jeorgismith for trusting me with huge roles and encouraging me to continue to do what i love, even as it has gotten harder to pursue into adulthood. I know that my love for this show will stick with me forever, and i also know the effort, the friendships, and the lessons learned through getting back on the stage have truly changed me.
I also would never have had the courage or training to be in this community if it weren’t for my sister @itsalexrenee , who is my biggest supporter, friend, and mentor. She has always encouraged and protected me in this industry, and for that i am SO blessed.

A last thank you to everyone who traveled to see the show, it truly meant so much to me, and i hope this is just the beginning of my adulthood acting adventures:)

Matilda: A Recap — As a California kid, I grew up dreaming of New York’s 42nd St., like so many theatre kids. And seeing “Deshpande” on 42nd St. this past weekend made me so emotional. My parents are literally from tiny villages in India, and they worked so hard, and through education, sacrifice, and community, built a life here. Seeing our name like this was pretty cool. Gonna keep trying to do the Kaulgud-Deshpande name justice. To the Matilda team — yall are so special and it was an honor to work alongside you all!

MATILDA at Theater Row Stage 3 🎪🦎📚📺✨

When @laura.luc asked me to direct this exciting production of MATILDA, I eagerly jumped on board, not knowing I would be 7.5 months pregnant while doing so. But at no point did Laura or the rest of the KOTA team doubt my abilities to do so. Laura, thank you for trusting my vision and helping me create a reimagined rendition of this spectacular musical for the off-broadway scene. I am so unbelievably grateful for this opportunity and creation.

Thank you so much to our creative team and crew! @caseyesbin @itsalexrenee @whoisjnap @oliviakuanromano @matti_o6 @ry.sautner @_adventuresofjerry @ellierberry, and SO MANY OTHERS. We could not have done this without each of you. You all are incredible.

Performing in NYC has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember, I still can’t believe it’s actually a reality. I’m so so grateful for everyone who made this show happen. @jeorgismith @caseyesbin @itsalexrenee @whoisjnap and @laura.luc are the absolute best team ever. I’m so grateful to have been able to learn from you.

@abia.designs @bronwhittle - the best stage parents I could have ever asked for! You both have been huge role models to me throughout this entire process and I feel so lucky that I got to share the stage with you.

@izzylivingherbestlife @rafaella.miller you both killed it every night! Best Matilda’s ever. I can’t wait to see everything you guys accomplish

Oh, Matilda…
This show has made my heart sing for as long as I can remember. If you had told me that I’d music-direct this production with a brilliant woman-led team of creatives, the most spectacular cast, and my SISTER playing Ms. Honey..?!?! It feels too good to be true, but it happened, and we are all better for it.

I can’t believe it! I finally finished my run in my first ever off-broadway show! This has been such a fun experience and I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity! Everyone has really been so amazing to work with and I couldn’t have asked for a better cast!

I want to give a huge thank you to the entire production team of this show! The company’s founder and producer @laura.luc for all the work and scheduling that you have put into this company so young actors like us can experience the professional world! A big thank you goes to our director @jeorgismith for working with us and really bringing this show to life! And we can’t forget our amazing music director @itsalexrenee for trusting us through the online process with the music and helping us along the way! Finally I want to thank our choreographers @caseyesbin @whoisjnap @_ryleemorgann_ for the amazing choreo in all of the numbers it was so fun to learn these dances from you all and really tie this show all together! And of course @okr_photography for these amazing production and rehearsal photos!

This has been the experience of a lifetime and I will miss it so much!

Happy Closing to this fabulous cast of “Matilda” @kotaproductions !! Loved assisting @caseyesbin on #TeamChoreo and being on the other side of the table to bring this beautiful story to life.

The future of performing is SO bright with the talent of these young actors and I was so inspired by their passion and tenacity. They are ready to BOOK some jobs, y’all 🔥

@laura.luc , @jeorgismith and @itsalexrenee create such a professional, disciplined environment that encourages young actors to always put forth their best work (and their alumni prove it because they are WORKING 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻). You guys make KOTA a staple for young performers in the industry and give them EXACTLY what they need to succeed. I would have killed for training like that at such a young age.
