To all you young/beginning artists out there. Keep your older work to look back on your growth and development as an artist. It’s like a visual journal of your journey.
.
I drew this in 1988 when I was 16/17 year old in high school. I was using cheap markers and a rigged up airbrush contraption to fade the colors.
.
I was 1000% inspired by @rodney_orko_wade (Rest in peace brother) and the whole Feds Crew from Chicago. @_slangism @trixterone If you’re not familiar with their work please go follow them now!
.

The profound, esoteric universe of RAMMELLZEE is a battleground. 💥 He was more than a graffiti legend, he was a self-declared "Ikonoklast Panzerist" and Gothic Futurist theorist who waged a lifelong symbolic war against the corruption of language. His philosophy states that the alphabet's letters are armored units, corrupted by Western culture, and must be liberated through art. This led to his unique works:

The Letter Racers: Kinetic, armored sculptures that are the "weaponized" letters of the alphabet.

The Garbage Gods: Elaborate, handmade suits of armor and costumes, the physical embodiments of his multiple personas.

Gothic Futurism: The concept of art as a transcendent, military-grade discipline to decolonize the mind and language.

From New York's subways to his legendary, junk-filled "Battlestation," Rammellzee's work forces you to see words as weapons and art as a cosmic, ongoing skirmish. He didn't just write his name—he performed an equation. 🖼️🎤
