When I first got into a job in radio, I was walked into @cliffreeve’s office. It had so much memorabilia in there - music, movies, photos. It was messy but amazing. I remember bits and pieces from our 2-3 minute chat - he asked about me, what I loved and then said “there are 2 kinds of people in this business: a person in radio… and a radio person. You seem like a radio person.”
That stuck with me all through the next nearly 20 years all because of this guy, who is hanging up the headphones today at @mmmsouthwest.
And if ever there was a poster boy for “radio person” it’s Clifford Harold Reeve.
One of the best memories is stuffing around with the Six O’Clock Rock show on Saturday nights (which we knew the announcer had pre-recorded) and switched the first song over to be Wall of Voodoo’s Mexican Radio! We did it 6-7 weeks non-stop! We were amused at least.
True legend. Give the guy an OAM! And give Muriel Webster one too while you’re there…
