“Yes, life these days … “ 🫶 Compassion-centered housing project #3

In just a few weeks, Compassionate Housing™ will welcome its first group of residents. Heartfelt thanks to everyone working hard on-site each day to ensure that this holiday is a little brighter! Houselessness remains one of Hawaii’s most persistent and complex challenges, disproportionately affecting those who have endured trauma. Trauma profoundly disrupts the brain, impairing emotional regulation, decision-making, and social connection. For those experiencing chronic homelessness, this creates a cycle where the absence of safe housing perpetuates neurological dysfunction … and vice versa. Compassionate Housing™ works to break this cycle, offering a pathway to healing and opportunity. It represents a transformative approach, redefining housing as more than a shelter … it’s a neuroscience-based design foundation for healing, growth, and restored dignity that intentionally feels like a “neighborhood street”. At B+HARI, we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has remained supportive in this mission. We’re thrilled to share progress on the first on-site Compassionate Housing™ project: the Iwilei transitional housing project in partnership with IHS (Institute for Human Services), the Mayor’s Office, and I-ON Group.
