A little late, but here are a few photos from the @dgcbctalent Spotlight BC Director’s Conference a few weeks back. Grateful for the conversations, the community, and everyone who helped make it such a great event.

We were so pleased to see Troy Scott at the NAACP Image Awards Luncheon in Hollywood this past weekend.

He described it as a powerful networking space, with a red carpet, formal program, and mixer where he connected with producers, nominees, and industry leaders, including the team behind Sarah’s Oil, Tyriq Withers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Derrick Williams, and Mario Van Peebles.

We were proud to support Troy as he stepped into that room and built new relationships that can open doors well beyond a single event.

Celebrating Troy Scott during Black History Month!
Troy Scott’s NAACP Image Award nomination is a major career milestone and a moment that matters deeply to the Black Screen Office.
Troy doesn’t just create powerful work. He mentors. He shares access. He shows up for the next generation. As a mentor in BSO’s Black Women Directors Accelerator, he opens his sets to talented directors, offering rare, real-world access that changes careers.
From Allegiance to I’ll Never Let You Go, Troy’s work reflects range, trust, and excellence, on and off set.

At BSO, we believe visibility must come with access.
Today, we celebrate a director who keeps the door open behind him.
Congratulations, Troy!

Erin Boyes was a guest at the Directors Guild of Canada Conference this past weekend. Keeping close ties with filmmakers in Canada gives Erin’s students more opportunity to learn from and work with the top industry professionals in Vancouver. It also keeps her up to speed on what directors, producers and showrunners are looking for in talent, so her coaching and teaching can be specific and relevant to the projects currently filming. The DGC weekend was a huge success and reminded all of the attendees what a solid, exciting and world renowned industry we have here in BC! 🎥💜

Spotlight is happening this weekend, and the lineup is truly outstanding.

I’ve had the privilege of helping grow this event over the past two years with my fellow advisory members @nimishamukerji, @aliliebert, @hhdtvis, @tqfilm, & @zach.lipovsky. It’s been a real team effort.

And sincere thanks to Sandi Cooper, Nightingale Ho, and Kendrie Upton for everything you do for our @dgcbctalent members behind the scenes to make events like these happen.

DGC BC Spotlight | BC Directors Conference is two days of screenings, panels, and masterclasses with top industry professionals and directors, plus receptions and DGC BC Greenlight, featuring live pitches and special guest judges.

January 24–25, 2026
Anvil Centre, New Westminster, BC

Supported by @creativebcs and the Province of British Columbia.
