I’ve just left my Arctic Apartment No. 102 and am about to board a “toy plane” from Leknes to Bodø.

I’ve spent the last four days with an amazing team of filmmakers and photographers on a shoot for National Geographic Apparel, and what an experience it has been!

It was fascinating to step behind the scenes and see what it actually takes to bring a short film to life — the amount of planning, coordination, logistics, creativity and sheer hard work that goes into just a few minutes of film, and the incredible number of people working behind the scenes to make it happen.

And, of course, it was pretty fun to step out of my usual role as a scientist and become a model for the shoot. Although not exactly the boring kind of model who just stands around looking pretty. I got to hike, kayak through fjords, rock climb and see a double rainbow on the top of a mountain — all while trying to look good in torrential rain and Nordic wind. Not entirely sure I succeeded at the last part. 😂

A huge shoutout to this incredible team:

🎬Producers @andreaohland and @tessasoole , who made sure everything was perfectly organised and running like a Swiss watch.

🎥 Directors @johnnylangenheim and @notyetfamous , who envisioned this fantastic adventure story and were so open to incorporating Ciril’s and my ideas about how we wanted to be portrayed in the film.

📹 Cinematographer @troyedige who squeezed himself into a tiny hole between the rocks to film me sampling in a “cave”. Dedication!

🧭My fellow National Geographic Explorer @ciriljazbec with whom I managed to do so many different things in just three days that it feels like we’ve been friends for years. And we laughed A LOT along the way.

📸 Total badass photographer and filmmaker @grace.t.s.p , who kept her cool while dangling from a rope in the rain and wind to film me rock climbing.

✨The Real Models, @zachdelf and @ellewhite2.0 who somehow manage to look incredible in every single photo.

Wonderful local crew members Yngvar and Inge, plus the climbers who kept us safe.

☕️ Our amazing assistants Doris, Louise, Tuma who kept us caffeinated, well fed, and powdering our noses.

Thank you all for an incredible experience!
