POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

To the Executive Team and Leadership of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History,

On the heels of our “Stitched in Excellence” conversation and the remarkable 2026 Gala, “Our History, Our Voice, Our Future”, Mark Anthony and I want to express our deepest, most heartfelt gratitude.

Stepping into the halls of the Charles Wright Museum is never merely an appearance; it is a sacred homecoming. To witness our couture ensembles—including the enduring legacy of Harlem’s own Cicely Tyson—housed and celebrated within an institution dedicated to the preservation and elevation of our collective soul is an honor that defies simple description.

Our conversation, brilliantly guided by Jennifer Evans and four visionary young designers from The Pensole Lewis College of Business and Design (PLC) and College of Creative Studies (CCS), filled us with an overwhelming sense of stewardship and hope. To look into the eyes of this next generation is to know that the thread we are pulling is strong, unbroken, and destined for heights we once only dared to imagine. And to gather the very next evening under the banner of a gala that boldly declares who we were, who we are, and who we are yet to become was nothing short of transformative.

This photograph captured in that space—standing alongside, (L-R) Lance Wheeler, Vice President of Learning and Engagement, Neil A. Barclay, President and Chief Executive Officer and Jennifer Evans, Vice President of Exhibitions and Collections—is more than a frame in time. For us, it is visual proof of what becomes possible when we refuse to wait for permission, when we deliberately uplift one another, and when we weave our authentic cultural narratives into the highest echelons of art, history, and global design.

Thank you for holding the door open, for anchoring our stories with such dignity, and for partnering with us to ensure that Black excellence is not viewed as a momentary exception, but as the permanent architecture of history.

With deep respect, admiration, and boundless gratitude,

B Michael & Mark Anthony Edwards

The Wednesday Wake Up

Woke up this morning to a notification that I had reached 10,000 followers.

Wow.

Thank you.

Over the last year, you’ve allowed me to capture pieces of your lives through my lens. Birthdays and new beginnings. Faith and worship. Love stories just beginning and love stories still growing. Parents and children. Community leaders and protesters. Law enforcement officers and neighborhood activists. Moments of celebration, reflection, healing, and hope.

What I’ve learned is that every person has a story, and every story deserves to be told with dignity.

To every person who has stepped in front of my camera, trusted me with a moment, shared a smile, shed a tear, or simply allowed me to tell a small piece of your journey—thank you for allowing your “why” to become my “why,” even if only for a moment.

As we continue forward, I look forward to capturing more of the moments that matter: the victories, the struggles, the milestones, the laughter, and everything in between.

I’m a man of faith. I love God. But I’m also human, and the greatest commandment is love.

There will be things on this page that not everyone agrees with. There will be people whose lives, experiences, beliefs, or journeys may look different from mine. That’s okay.

This page has never been about endorsing every viewpoint. It’s about recognizing the humanity in people and understanding that every person has a story worth hearing.

Thank you for 10,000 followers.

The journey continues. 📸

March isn't over yet, and neither is Women's History Month! Here are some books to celebrate not only this month, but all year round!

Just now, I was listening to #michigan #governor #gretchenwhitmer speaking to the press about yesterday's attack at the synagogue.

I can't really say that I'm shocked or surprised, knowing what's been happening throughout the #middleeast in recent years, but I do have to #smh in sadness and in dismay
