If you don't know about the lactating steers I'm referring to then it's time for a Google search. A study out of West Texas A&M found that between 15% and 19% of feedlot steers were lactating. Why is this bad? Because steers are boys and shouldn't be able to produce milk. It's unclear still why it's happening, although there's speculation it may have to do with the hormonal implants they use to promote growth. Regardless, if you don't hunt or raise your own meat, now is a GREAT TIME to learn how. Or buy local meat whenever you can. You can also check out @joel_salatin as he recently talked about this study. #raiseyourownfood #raiseyourownmeat #homesteadersofamerica #rabbitsonthehomestead #flagstafffarm
