To say it was a good day, would be an understatement.

Wade into water you’ve never fished.
Embrace being a beginner - or whatever place you are in your fly fishing journey.
Get tangled.
Throw bad casts.
Read the water wrong.
Be intimidated by the process and show up anyway.

Because you don’t become a better angler by staying home.

And remember…

The fastest way to build confidence on the water is to become dangerously competent.

Learn to read the river. Practice your cast. Understand the hatch. Put in the hours. Ask all of the questions.

The river rewards those who keep showing up. ⚡️

I didn’t grow up fly fishing or learn how to do it from a family member — I learned solo, as an adult and after falling in love with the sport, I have spent the years since pouring my time, heart and soul into gaining as much knowledge and experience as I can year after year.

Yes, you read that right. I’m still learning - frankly that goes for every aspect of my life. And I never plan to stop reading, watching, and searching for more knowledge and skills that I can pass along to my clients — and to use towards my own personal goals as well.

Some weeks I am on the river 7/7 days - guiding, honing my skills, searching for new water and fishing in conditions that are both ideal and less than. And as much as I love fishing solo, I love teaching women this amazing sport just as much.

Here’s to wherever you are in your fly fishing journey — embrace every crappy cast, every sweet hook set and even the times the big one gets away. Because one of the best things about fly fishing is that every time you fail, you can always just simply cast again. If that ain’t a great life lesson, I don’t know what is.

Fish on. 🤘

Another fantastic camping/kayak fishing trip. Caught more crappie than I could count over 3 days.

I drive down this trail to be surrounded by the physical world.

No receiving a text to verify an email password here.

No spinning a tablet around on me to ask for a tip you did nothing for here.

Just splitting wood, feeding the campfire, and remembering what rugged simplicity feels like.

Cut the leash every now and again. Create that balance we all crave in this world.

Taco Tuesday. This truck gets me places.
