Building India’s Digital Future with a Future-Ready Workforce.

NSDC participated in the Industry Consultation Workshop on “Telecom Passive Infrastructure: Challenges | Opportunities | Future Skills”, organised by the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) on 18 September 2026 in New Delhi.

The consultation brought together stakeholders from MSDE, DoT, NSDC, DIPA, and leading telecom organisations to deliberate on emerging workforce needs, industry skill gaps, future job roles, and the impact of technologies like AI, automation and predictive maintenance.

Key discussions focused on strengthening apprenticeships, on-the-job learning, industry participation, and future-ready qualification pathways to support the evolving telecom ecosystem.

As the sector moves towards a fibre-driven, automated and connected future, NSDC remains committed to collaborating with industry partners, Sector Skill Councils and training institutions to build a skilled workforce that powers India’s digital transformation.

Together, we are shaping the workforce for tomorrow’s digital infrastructure.

Kushraj Nimesh Rathod | IT Network Systems Administration

One competition can change the way you see what’s possible.
For Kushraj Nimesh Rathod, that story began in 2021, when his school introduced him to JuniorSkills. He went on to win a Silver Medal in IT Software Solutions for Business and that first experience opened the door to something much bigger.

He returned to compete through the district, state, regional and national levels of Indiaskills, winning Gold at every stage.
But getting there meant learning to balance two demanding worlds: his degree programme, with its labs and evaluations, and the preparation required for WorldSkills.

Now, after years of competing and learning, Kushraj is set to represent India at WorldSkills 2026.
His advice to anyone considering a skills competition is simple: take the opportunity. You never know where it might lead.
From a school competition in 2021 to the world stage.

He builds connections that keep the world moving. One skill. Countless connections.

Meet Shubham Kumawat from Dhami Kalan, Bagru, Jaipur, Rajasthan, representing India in ICT Network Infrastructure at the WorldSkills Competition 2026 in Shanghai.

His interest in networking began during his B.Voc in IT/Networking. With practice and persistence, that interest took him from Rajasthan Skills 2026, where he won Gold, to becoming an IndiaSkills National Finalist and earning his place at the global stage.

The journey was not without challenges. Limited resources and access to advanced training in his town meant Shubham had to make the most of what he had, while balancing his studies with long hours of practice.

Now, he is taking his skills to Shanghai with one goal, to win a medal for India.

And beyond the competition, he hopes to become an expert trainer, helping other students find their way in the world of networking.

From Dhami Kalan to Shanghai.

Shubham is taking India’s skills global.

Go, Shubham!
