This week Keegan, Cassi and Christina talk about massages, Richard Simmons and beginning podcasting.

Going into the bad dates, there are juice MLMs, lots of blood, toe-sucking in public, angels, drunken naps outside and anti-science catfishes.

There is nothing funnier to me than a man from 1534 trying to figure out a zipper or a TV.

@tstlpodcast and I are reading A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux for the #rippedandravishedbookclub right now and the first half is just him discovering ice cream and indoor plumbing and a calculator. It’s so silly and the best. We’re obsessed.

Part one of the discussion drops on the Reading Under the Covers podcast on Friday 6/19. Comment LINK and I’ll send you the readalong signup so you’re not behind.

What’s your favorite fish out of water/time travel romance? I’m always looking for more.

Did this book ruin you too? Because I’m pretty sure it got me good. 💔

A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux is our May/June Ripped & Ravished Book Club pick, and this one feels extra special because it’s the first pick I’m actually re-reading.

The others have been first-time reads, but this one? I already loooove it.

I remember falling hard for that classic romance feeling I don’t always find in newer books: the comfort, the swoon, the ache, the way a story could make you feel everything without trying so hard to shock you into it.

And Nicholas? Please. Absolute knight in shining armor blueprint.

I remember living inside this story, rooting for these characters, and crying by the end. So now I’m curious: will it still wreck me? Will I still swoon? Will I defend my younger self’s taste with my whole chest?

Probably.

@tstlpodcast and I will be discussing it on the Reading Under the Covers Podcast in June, so make sure you’re signed up for the book club newsletter. Comment LINK if you want to get that.

Have you read this one before, or would this be your first time?

It’s the end of an era! I’ve decided to end the Patreon. You can still access all the episodes and livestreams for $3 USD/month if you’re still listening to the (almost) 200 episodes! If you’re a current Patron, you can cancel your membership or move to this new tier. If you want to try it out for the first time, now is the time!

I still plan on continuing my annual episodes and posting emergency eps, which will be released on the main feed so make sure you are subscribed on Apple Podcasts or Spotify! I will also share the episodes here so you don’t miss out! @readytoberomanced will continue as per usual!

Okay so… we started reading The Flame and the Flower (1972) aka one of the books that helped kick off the 1970s historical romance boom.

And I need to be so honest: Chapters 1-2 are A LOT. 😅

Which is exactly why Becky @tstlpodcast and I recorded a podcast chat about it, because we had approximately 900 questions, including:

Why were bodice rippers so popular when consent wasn’t even a conversation?

And why do these stories hit so differently now?

If you want to listen (or read along), comment LINK and I’ll DM you:

☔ my 1-hour silent “read with me” (rain sounds, no mid-roll ads) if you want a reading buddy

No pressure to finish it. No pressure to “like” it. Just… let’s talk about it with context.

Have you read Woodiwiss before or is this your first time too?

The problematic vintage romance book club is HERE. 💋

Introducing Ripped & Ravished, where we dust off the OG bodice rippers, admit they’re messy as hell, and talk about why they still live rent-free in the genre’s history.

📚 How it works
-1 vintage romance every two months
-We read together
-Then we scream, side-eye, and unpack it all on the Reading Under the Covers podcast

Our first pick:
👉 THE FLAME AND THE FLOWER by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss

I’m so excited to be joined by Becky from @tstlpodcast and yes, it’s going to be chaotic energy: we’ll talk tropes, history, what aged badly, what shaped romance forever… all of it.
Want in?

- Grab a copy
- Read with us in Jan–Feb
- Then tune into our discussion episode

If you want all the dates, find out about future picks when they’re available, and episode links in one place:

👉 Comment LINK and I’ll DM you the post with all the details + the email sign-up for the Ripped & Ravished list.

Bodice rippers, but make it a group project. 🔥🌸
