Coronavirus- changed our lives , changed the lives of our loved ones. I first started worrying about lockdown when I found out my sister was trapped in a different country away from her home and her place of work - luckily she was with her friend and her pets.
I then worried about it while I lay in a hospital bed showing a couple of symptoms and wondering if they would quarantine me in their quarters - I came out of the hospital hours later safe (was advised isolation). I got better in a week and lockdown 1.0 was announced.
At first I was really motivated to keep up with my routine , workout, excited to learn how to cook new meals and keep myself going. Group activities: movies, games, cooking, video calls etc kept me busy.
Slowly I felt alone (well, I live alone) , then I got lonely , then slowly the stress of having no work, no pay caught up as I began to realize this is more than just 21days.
I tried to keep myself engaged and positive, I had to take care of myself physically and mentally or else who would.
My friends lived far away, I have no family other than my sister who lives in a different country. Things got tough.
There were days I had zero motivation to cook for myself. To clean up after myself, to workout, or to get out of bed. It's really frustrating.
I started envying people who lived with happy families or were living with their friends or better halves but also was grateful about my own independence and to have not been stuck in a worse situation.
I fought 8 out of 10 mental breakdowns with all I had in me and made it to the end of lockdown. Of Course my baby cat helped a lot <3
I realised I only grew stronger and of course. Learnt the biggest lesson that I can get myself through things sometimes I feel like I cannot. Whatever is on your mind can really make you break you. It's all within us and given the circumstances we will do whatever it takes to survive.

Yours Truly,
Tanya Dutta
