Acro dance combined with cumbia?
The first time I proposed it to Tomas I wasn’t sure how it would work. But his extraordinary curiosity and openness kicked in straight away:
Can you be upside down and following the rhythm with your feet?
Can you go from a cumbia spin to a handstand turn?
Can you go from a kick into a walkover?- and keep the beat? 😅

He did

And then @alex_v @cumbia_en_la_sangre added the technique, context and character to make it truly unique.

We want to go to venues all over the UK with this pop up performance- shopping malls, festivals, foyers, car parks- you name it!

Any ideas? Get in touch!

There is always a bit of a deflation feeling after the adrenaline of creating and performing a new piece of work. That real exchange of energy- amongst the artists, and then, with the audiences- is gone, and you are left with a few practical jobs (including writing new applications) but hopefully, also with great memories.
As I sat down to sort through all the material, I loved seeing this images from the #worldrefugeeday Look at the energy Tomas brought into the space for his second performance of the day (he had performed in the morning in Gloucester) at Woolwich Works as part of THERE AND HERE: A CELEBRATION by Luca Silvestrini’s @proteindance and Royal Borough of Greenwich.

🤩Magic.

@ttomasbriones thanks for bringing the piece to life with your charm, magnetism and incredible technique 🤸🏻‍♀️
