Had the most memorable birthday week of my lifetime (so far).
I had to make a last minute change of plans due to suffering an insane amount of nerve pain and not being able to leave my house; And still, so many of my beautiful, amazing friends came through and we had a chill and fun time together.
The day after my birthday, my right leg and pelvis went fully numb and there was no choice but to go to the ER. There, I had an MRI done, and was kept overnight. I woke up the next morning to the neurosurgeon telling me the disk in my lower back is so herniated, if I don't want things to get worse, I need to get surgery ASAP.
Even though the odds of spine surgery going wrong are low, if it does go wrong, it can be catastrophic and permanent.
I wasn't even able to call my parents who were asleep on the other side of the world, before I got wheeled into the OR and put under.
The surgical team did an incredible job, and the nursing/PT staff were wonderful. Even though there's a long road of physical therapy recovery ahead of me, the pain is gone and I'm feeling hopeful.
I want to thank my partner for bearing the unbearable emotional and physical toll together with me throughout all of this.
What troubled me the most is the likely loss of my winter season. I'm still going to Japan to see my family but I'm going to try my best not to push myself to ski and make things worse. I might be on the slopes, I might not... That is still up in the air.
As of writing this post, I don't need, but prefer to use a walker to walk and stand since it takes weight off my back. :)
And no, I'll never accept Fahrenheit as a legitimate unit of temperature.

🇫🇷 Un banger absolu ! Un drama sur fond de mafia ? Il ne m’en fallait pas plus, et le casting a fini de me convaincre ! 🤩 J’ai adoré pouvoir dévorer tous les épisodes d’une traite sur TikTok @freedailyshorts , sans pubs ni abonnements. C’est intense, plein d’action, d’amour et de trahisons. L’évolution des personnages est top : Vincent, le Don, s’adoucit par amour, tandis qu’Iris gagne en confiance pour se défendre. Même si l’ex et l’enfant caché sont des classiques, les rebondissements nous happent totalement ! 🔥🙌
🇬🇧 An absolute banger! A mafia drama? That’s all I needed, and the cast sealed the deal! 🤩 I loved being able to binge all the episodes in one sitting on TikTok, with no ads or subscriptions. It’s intense, full of action, love, and betrayals. The character development is great: Vincent, the Don, softens for love, while Iris gains the confidence to defend herself. Even if the ex and the hidden child are classics, the twists totally hook you! 🔥🙌

Leur alchimie est incroyable ! 🇬🇧 Tyler Scherer was born to play this type of character! Muscled, tattooed, a killer gaze... perfection! I also love when he softens, his gaze and smile convey so much emotion. Alexa Reddy is amazing, her acting evolves beautifully from innocence to strength. Their chemistry is unbelievable! Special shoutouts to the villains (Kelton White, Hannah Heston), the manipulative ex (Amanda Sutton), and the right-hand man (Jataun Gilbert) unbelieving in the face of his boss’s changes! 🤩💥
