Dan (Wé-Guéré-Wobé)

Fetish maskette used for magic and medical purposes

It is a really interesting example
- very old & powerful
- with lots of magical accessories to fortify its power
- with a great deep patina that proves its long tribal use

Ex Fernandez Sebastian Leventhal

Wood with encrousted surface - Metal attachments - Strings and fibers - Animal skin and hair - Six cowrie shells - Fetish material - Magic charge inside the back of the mask

11,5 cm

- the images of the seller are very beautiful and explain the maskette very well … but unfortunately they show it on its base
- in the next few weeks I will organize new professional photos with the item without base … and then I will post also them

The London Open Live | Shaun Caton

As part of Whitechapel Gallery’s ‘The London Open Live’ – a 13-week programme showcasing 15 performance artists – Shaun Caton presents ‘Tales From a London Grotto’ (2025).

This new performance installation - a collaboration between Shaun Caton and Weeks & Whitford - creates an immersive space of visual alchemy and enchantment.

Drawing on folkloric and historical narratives, the performers will respond to London’s hidden tributaries, interpreting the stories, spirits, and histories that flow through them.

We would like to cordially invite you to 'Tales From a London Grotto', a collaboration between Shaun Caton and Weeks & Whitford. This new performance installation will create an immersive space of visual alchemy and enchantment. The performers will interpret and perform folkloric historical narratives, in relation to local London tributaries, and their associated histories, narratives and spirits. This occult knowledge will be uncovered through a collective mediumistic research process borrowing from psychogeography, séance, dowsing, scrying, psychometry, hypnosis and electronic voice phenomenon. The resultant performance will incorporate a grotto comprised of artefacts, sound scores, and a choreography of interrelated actions.

Tickets are free - Use the link below for booking: https://tinyurl.com/shauncatonbooking

Wonderful to see so many performance artists and friends of @tubermatrix Shaun Caton, at the opening of his window exhibition. There is a startling intensity in his work that must be experienced face to face with the artwork rather than on screen. The exhibition is only on for a limited time. Some are framed some are not. And there are a number of his collaged books which are like sacred objects. Exhibition on till 12 May #collage #altered books #photomontage #shauncaton #performanceart #tarot #mystery #worldswithinworlds #papercutout
