The future may feel uncertain, but the Class of 2026 is ready for it.

At the 2026 Graduate Student Commencement Ceremony at Tufts University School of Medicine, student speaker Eliot Konzal (@eliotk_125), MBS26, reflected on the resilience that carried this class through long nights, difficult exams, setbacks, and moments of doubt and the strength they found in one another along the way.

“When I look around this space, I do not see uncertainty. I see hope, compassion, and resilience.”

To every graduate stepping into medicine, research, public health, and beyond: this is only the beginning. The future of health care and public health is stronger because of you.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. We can’t wait to see what you do next.

When you’re thinking about becoming a physician assistant, the questions can pile up quickly.

"Is PA school right for me?"

"What should I actually be looking for in a program?"

"How do I choose when so many programs look the same on paper?"

To help prospective students cut through the noise, Tufts PA Admissions Chair Mike Otte and Program Manager Rachael Littlehale share the key things they believe truly matter when evaluating PA programs. The details that don’t always show up in rankings, statistics, or admissions checklists.

Because choosing a PA program isn’t just about getting in. It’s about deciding where you’ll grow into a clinician.

As Otte puts it: “The right choice is the one where you feel aligned with the mission, supported as a learner, and confident that you’ll thrive both academically and personally.”

That idea of support goes beyond words. It should be built into how you learn day to day. Like spending time in the simulation lab almost every week during the didactic year, practicing history taking, physical exam techniques, and procedural skills. It’s learning from faculty who bring real‑world experience from across inpatient and outpatient settings. It’s having mentors who help you navigate challenges, reflect on your growth, and keep moving forward when the coursework gets intense.

PA school is demanding by design. But the programs that make the biggest impact are the ones that prepare you not just to pass boards, but to step into clinical practice with confidence, curiosity, and compassion.

If you’re considering a future as a physician assistant, taking the time to understand what really matters in a PA program can make all the difference.

Mules on the Move, a program organized by the Career Center and generously funded by a Muhlenberg alum, introduces students to career options in various cities. This Spring Break, the program focused on the health professions and we took a group of 20 students to Boston for two days. Students visited EMD Serano, BU's medical and dental schools, and the Tufts health professions graduate programs and dental school. There was also a networking event where we connected with some Muhlenberg alumni who are in various stages of their professional careers. Overall it was a fabulous success and the students learned so much! Thanks to everyone who made this a wonderful experience for all!
