🫀 update:

Following my original diagnosis of CPVT in December, genetic testing revealed that this was a misdiagnosis. This meant my surgeon was willing to attempt a second surgery.

The surgery was considered a success, revealing I had AVNRT. After a full season on the bench, I was officially cleared to return to rowing!

Unfortunately, soon after returning this semester, my symptoms came back. However, the arrhythmias I’m now experiencing are happening in a different part of my heart, meaning they aren’t considered life-threatening like before. This means I’m able to continue rowing with close monitoring.

I do, however, need a third surgery, scheduled for December 1st. Although this surgery is less likely to be a complete success, the hope is that it will significantly reduce my symptoms and put an end to my heart surgery era 🫰

And now I don’t know how I’ll live without Seraina, the best roommate I could ask for, without Steffi erging next to me and rowing behind me, without the Monday dinners with Emily, without Ella joking about my accent, without the strength and discipline of Sydney, without Hannah telling me to trust, without the smile and the energy of Cara, without Mollie, my travel buddy, without Bri making fun of me when I say “Bri I have a question” and without Brandon reminding me that “rowing is simple” and “everything is going to be fine”.
