In-depth and informed conversations between two lifelong friends about the power of music — one album at a time.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The universe knew I was overdue for a creative pick-me-up. A quick text, a little scheduling luck, and Kyle was in the studio for a hang and a chat. I try to keep up with his podcast, @tunedig, but hearing him drop knowledge in person is always better. If music is your thing, he and his co-host Cliff are worth a listen. As usual, we ended with a portrait. Check the hair. The frames. Dude's still got it.

He's not on here so he won't see this.

I listened to all 366 albums on the @tunedig Calendar so you don't have to EVEN THOUGH I THINK YOU SHOULD. Find out why, what new discoveries I made, and how I casually mention Rage Against The Machine and Shania Twain in the same breath.
It's another bumper edition of Strung Together, where I'm meant to play you 6 songs but somehow squeeze in over 50.

🎧 While gearing up to start recording sessions for season six of the @tunedig podcast, co-host Kyle Stapleton (@kstaps) took a few minutes to put together an In the Mix playlist, and to chat with Intown editor @collinkelley about how TuneDig has evolved since beginning as a social media platform.

Their conversation touches on everything from the value of taking deep dives into albums by everyone from Miles Davis to Bjork, Radiohead to Rihanna. Stapleton also offers some insight into what is sure to be TuneDig's most eclectic season yet.

Check out their conversation, and press play on Stapleton’s mix of deep, local cuts by everyone from Lynyrd Skynyrd live at the Fox Theatre to Noot d’ Noot, Balkans, and OJ Da Juiceman.

Thundercat - Drunk
.
@thundercatmusic is one of those real underated artists. He really doesn't get the appreciation he deserves. His style of playing is so fresh, and his voice is so smooth and Drunk mixes that in this funky and wild way. The arrangement and album structure is magical and spacious, and just picks you up and takes you on a journey. If you've listening to this album, you'll know what I mean. This record is seriously a masterpiece and one I am slightly ashemed I didn't own earlier. But thanks to @tunedig I finally got a copy, thanks to the generous hearts and their love of spreading music. Go check out this stunning album if you haven't already, and go follow and listen to TuneDig to delve deeper into albums and artists you might not know, or want to know more about. One of the best music podcasts I have ever heard! I can't big them up enough!! And, they are just about to drop season 5. You have no idea how excited I am for this.

So there I am in yet another boring meeting (work has been crazy lately) and I’m checking my personal emails - as you do - when I see an email titled, “you won ACTQ vinyl...” so naturally I excused myself from the meeting so that I could dedicate the attention needed to such a momentous occasion. The skeptic in me is raising all sorts of red flags but as I keep reading the email I slowly start to understand it’s not a scam - it’s real!
.
As I started my journey into vinyl I wanted to learn as much as possible so I started listening to podcasts while on flights and one of the first podcasts I found was @tunedig - Cliff and Kyle really know their shit but deliver their content in such a way that I can listen to them for hours - and usually do! This specific episode dove deep on this album compared to Enter the Wu-Tang and it did such a great job providing a perspective and lens into both albums I hadn’t heard before.
.
Be sure to give these guys a listen - if not for their amazing podcasts, at least for the chance to win a free vinyl!
