🌴🎨🇧🇷 A magical day w/ @bruno.teixeira.br spent following color, water, and thought at @inhotim —where art feels more discovered than installed. Among the prehistorically-large gardens and wild multimedia creations, Dalton Paula’s breathtaking *Dupla cura* stayed with me: an expansive, tender meditation on memory, healing, and what endures. There’s real value in going a little out of the way for a place like this, where the landscape slows you down, and engineered works mingle and move with the marvelous creations of Nature.

Tunga. True Rouge, (1997)

Lygia Pape. Ttéia 1, C, (2002).

Dalton Paula. Formatura, (2025).

Chris Burden. Beam Drop Inhotim, 2008.

(Burden sourced 71 steel beams from scrap yards near Belo Horizonte, then had a crane raise and release them from 45 meters over a pool of fresh concrete during a 12-hour action. The concrete set around them, fixing the unpredictable results of gravity, impact, and the beams colliding with one another)

Hélio Oiticica. Invenção da Cor, Penetrável Magic Square #5, De Luxe (1977).

(Everybody calls it “Magic Square”)

Olafur Eliasson. Viewing Machine, (2001).

Yayoi Kusama. Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity, (2009).

Recently passed, Kusama’s darkened mirrored “infinity room” lit entirely with flickering lanterns evoking Japanese funereal tradition presents a shock from the bright indoor/outdoor environment the museum uniquely embodies.

Lais Myrrha. Contraplano (2026).

Perched at one the highest points and with visible open mines in the distance, this architectural piece instantly conjures Niemeyer with its sinuous curvature
