Jonathan Shaw escribe desde los 14 años, mucho antes de convertirse en tatuador. Aunque durante una buena parte de su vida las agujas ocuparon el primer plano, la escritura siempre estuvo ahí.

En 2017 publicó Scab Vendor: Confessions of a Tattoo Artist, el primer volumen de sus memorias, en el que repasa su vida, sus viajes y sus años en el mundo del tatuaje.

También es autor de Narcisa, una novela publicada originalmente en 2008, ambientada en el lado más oscuro de Río de Janeiro y marcada por el amor, las drogas y la marginalidad. A estos títulos se suman Homeward Bound, continuación de sus memorias, y Vintage Tattoo Flash, un recorrido visual por la historia del tatuaje tradicional estadounidense a través de cientos de diseños de su colección.

Este último es especialmente interesante para quienes quieren conocer los orígenes de muchos de los motivos que siguen formando parte del tatuaje actual.

Una trayectoria que conecta dos formas de contar historias: la palabra y la tinta.

Last night, @fawnkemble threw me an intimate and relaxed book release party with my family @theravensnest__. It was our first time at the family-run restaurant, which offers fine dining that feels casual with fun, themed drinks and delicious dishes. The gothic vibes are immaculate and just right for “Not Death, But Love,” the staff is attentive and kind, and we took a ton of photos for the gram. Everything was perfection! I’m so lucky to have a sister who loves and celebrates me every step of the way.

Whenever I open A VISIT TO MOSCOW, illustrated by Yevgenia Nayberg, and revisit the story of a small Jewish family, the father a Holocaust survivor, determined to live according to their beliefs despite the Soviet government's efforts to suppress Jewish religion and culture, I am reminded of Rabbi Sacks' words—and feel my own pride at being part of the Jewish people.

A preview of the cover reveal! I had my in-house art director sketch a mock up. Her pitch: girl podcaster and boy author don’t like like each other but their companies have to work together and they have to learn how to resolve their problems.

Ultimately @turnerpub decided to go in a different direction with the cover art

This was a weird Gerne bending story.
I thought it was a thriller-horror-fantasy story with enough twist.
Suffer is one of the main characters that is part of a gang named The Creeps.
They steal and hurt people and just hang around.
The Creeps think like if you have something they don't have like food they have to steal it.
"You need to have it terrible because we have it terrible"
But when Suffer falls through the shadows into the light there is hope for a better world than darkness.
