Killer theatrical prog rock from Buffalo, NY

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Another episode of Prognosis Positive will be airing @wmuhfm tomorrow from 12 to 2 PM ET USA. I will be playing a bit of music from artists performing @progstock as well as this CD from @turningvirtue and their 2024 release, He Held The Sun Captive. This is a very cool Prog trio out of Buffalo, NY. It’s a more modern sounding band in the vain of Porcupine Tree, but Turning Virtue never sounds specifically like any one band. I have listened to some of their older albums on streaming and they are also very solid. So you should check them out and listen to my show tomorrow if you can. #prog #progrock #progressiverock #progstock #wmuh

A little late, but this amazing album by @turningvirtue ‘He Held The Sun Captive’ turned 2 years old recently. I had the pleasure to create artwork for each song ❤️

I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined @turningvirtue as their live drummer! I previously contributed keyboards on their last two albums, “Beautiful” in 2020, and “He Held the Sun Captive” in 2024, so when Dave asked me if I wanted to join on drums, I couldn’t turn him down! It’s been a fun challenge as they have worked with some absolutely stellar drummers! Keep an eye out for some show announcements!

About 3 years ago, I was contacted by the band @turningvirtue to create an image for each of their songs off their 2020 album ‘Beautiful’. I was going through somewhat of an existential crisis at the time, so creating these was very therapeutic. Track 7: ‘Eyes of the Beginning’ ©️ 2023 Kiren In Digital

Looking back at one of MOSSOM’s most searing sets in recent memory, it’s no surprise the band’s lead Thundermaker and wordsmith is so visceral in his performance of the duo’s most popular anthem, “No FOMO”.

There comes a time when pushing through the cacophony of screen time, dating apps, AI prompts, and online obsessions becomes an incongruous, inhumane outgrowth of modern living.

Moss portends and hard reflects Byrne’s cynical edge. “Oh, the way that we engaged, before that touchscreen-guided age. Oh, the way that we did smile, before the angles and the wires.”

He drops an Easter egg racing toward the heavy bridge, with a shout out to @flocotorres and the bandsmen and comrades of @freeblackakron.

We used to look each other in the eyes. We used to sit in groups, without phones, pursue the art of knowing. The grace of humanity. The silence between. The jazz and the hard rocks of soul connection. That is, before the rat race splattered us with an electronic class and caste powered maze. A simulation.

That’s right, there’s always room for David to wax the rock philosophical. And speaking of rooms, @buffaloironworks crew and clan, we can’t wait to set our eyes and ears on you again.
