After a manic run at the Edinburgh Fringe, being one of the headliners for the inaugural Rik Mayall Comedy Festival and a memorable tour across England, Verbal Diary is gearing up for one final performance.

This project has been a true labour of love, fuelled entirely by sheer determination, a lot of late nights, and an unshakable belief in what this show could be.

Now, on Thursday 30th October 2025, at the CryerArts Theatre in Carshalton, we’re closing this chapter with one last bang. To mark the occasion, we’re stretching it into a full two-act version, complete with a few surprise twists.

If you’ve followed the journey — or are just discovering it — come be part of the final night with us. Will most likely be chaotic. Just the way it should be.

Tickets available at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/cryerarts-ltd/t-gaqnkdr

Cheers, Tom x

An honor to be celebrated by Black Alphabet, an organization I was pivotal in confounding, during National Poetry Month. I’ve authored 4 books, published one by Cornelius Jones, Jr., and have been anthologized in about a dozen others. I’ve won more than a few SLAMs, the last of which coming out of retirement to test my agility and relevance… so since I’ve mostly passed to torch to the next generation of griots, it feels nice to be featured alongside such esteemed framily: Justice Smeer, avery r. young, Lee Mokobe, Storie Devereaux, Goddess Warrior, Rickey Laurentiis, Ivan Nuru, and DeShara Suggs-Joe.

each night
I seek words
not already found
wanting to extend
this journey
called life
so lose them
on purpose
for love is a friend
called time.

there’s a language
at the tip of my tongue
that rivers back
forms just before the gulp
so my gut
can push it back up.
some call it
courage
others trying.

I’ve always noted that Rodney Chester has always been such a genuine, humble soul. From meeting him at ATB LA before the commercial success of @patrikianpolk ‘s Noah’s Arc, the the present, he always offers a hug, asks if I’m still writing, and thanks me for my contributions to the LGBTQ+ community. Often, those of us who lead are met with more ridicule and critique than support, so I thank him for reminders that the notion of brother’s or brista’s keeper is still very much a thing.

Wishing you all the best @therealrodneychester . Your heart and acts of kindness never go unnoticed with me.
