I was thinking...

Cable 14 hosted their Impact Awards night—spectacular, elegant, and so incredibly well done. They took the time to recognize the impact of community producers, volunteers, and so many people working behind the scenes who bring local television to life. But as I gather my thoughts about last night, I keep coming back to something important: we need to celebrate the impact of Cable 14!

In a media landscape dominated by national and international stories, Cable 14 continues to tell our stories. It shines a light on the people, organizations, businesses, artists, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and community leaders who make Hamilton such an extraordinary city. It connects us to one another and reminds us that our stories matter. Without cable 14, who would give life to our voices and ideas?

One of the things that struck me throughout the evening was hearing from the presenters. Their presence richly elevated the occasion, but what I loved most was learning how many of them had a personal or professional connection to Cable 14. Hearing their stories, their memories, and the role the station played in their journeys was a powerful reminder of just how deeply Cable 14 is woven into the fabric of our city. Their genuine pride in Hamilton was inspiring and added something truly special to the evening.

Congratulations to all of the talented and dedicated nominees, winners, and the family and friends that supported them. No one gets to this point by themselves. And this is definitely true for me.

I was deeply deeply honoured to receive both the Social Media Award and Program of the Year for Marisa’s Easy Kitchen. Thank you to everyone who watches, shares, comments, and supports me and the show, but more for supporting local programming. I feel your love and I'm beyond grateful. 🥹🥹

A special thank you to the amazing Cable 14 staff… I've listed their names in the comments.

If you believe local stories matter, support local television. Watch it. Share it. Participate in it. Encourage others to subscribe to it. Because when we invest in local media, we invest in our community.
