A little behind the scenes from last year ✨🎭

Cyndi Lauper
There is no way to celebrate Pride Month without a giant homage to @cyndilauper, Icon.
For whatever reasons the ancestors saw fit, I have be blessed with working with her on several projects.
But the real brag here is that I have witnessed 1st hand how a true ally with unconditional love can make changes in the world. Continually.
I could go on but would rather re-post part of a 2011 blog post I wrote:
“...Later that day I rushed to The Center to watch a rehearsal with Lauper and the Youth Pride Choir to sing 'True Colors' for our Home For The Holidays benefit show at the Beacon.
Cyndi is the most genuine human you can meet, famous or not, and everyone in this world is an equal.
In the middle of the rehearsal Cyndi looked back at a young girl and told her to breathe.
Seeing the girl's reaction to the note Cyndi said;
"You’re shy right? I’m sorry I didn’t mean to make you nervous. I just want you to breathe. I got the same problem. YOU ALL NEED TO BREATH. You all belong here on the stage, in this country, in this world. YOU ARE OUR FUTURE. Don’t ever let anyone tell you different. YOU ARE THE FUTURE OF THIS WORLD & YOU ARE LOVED. I don’t care who or what comes at you to tell you different, you breath & look them in the eye & say I BELONG HERE…."
From her heart, from her truth, from her world.
Cyndi Lauper changed the life of every person, young or old, singing or standing, in that room, and I personally am still not over her words.
On the surreal subway ride home I wondered what my life would have been like, if, while in high school or junior high school, at any point in my life, someone, like a teacher, an adult, or (!!!) Cyndi Lauper said to me what she said to them. I wondered what support for being different, to recognizing who you really are at an early age would mean.
Let’s find out; support our future, our youth, our peers young and old. Make sure they know they are wanted and loved every second of every day and not just in June. Tell him Cyndi sent ya"

PS Cyndi's birthday is during Pride Month, June 22. Coincidence I think not.

The last episode of Sherri aired today, and with that we close out our fourth and final season of the show. It has been an honor to be a part of @sherrishowtv from the start. Getting to work with someone as hilarious and kindhearted as @sherrieshepherd has been a dream come true, and I will forever be thanking my lucky stars to have been a small part of the magic of this show.

But the real privilege has been getting to assist the brilliant @tvmichaellee every single day, and watch in complete awe as he creates anything and everything out of thin air!! There is truly no one like him, and I feel beyond grateful to have learned so much being a part of the best Art Department in the biz!

From Wendy to Nick to Sherri I’ve found a beautiful second career & hope to stick around for a long time. Can’t wait to see what’s next!!! #ArtDepartment #MyTeam

It’s the final week of @sherrishowtv! I got to be a part of seasons three and four, and had an absolute blast. I learned so much, and got to meet so many incredible peeps (many of whom I never got good pics with). Also have to (at the very least) mention @tvmichaellee, who I was so honored to meet and work with. If you ever get the chance to help him build a foamcore piano, at 7am… I highly recommend it.

End of an era. The calm before the Saturday night storm at @elmorestaurantnyc So grateful for the amazing times. Too many shenanigans to count. I turned 40 in the famous basement party room, among other things 👀. Such a place of comfort and community for the #lgbtq diaspora 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈. 25 years is something to cheer about 👏🏻❤️👏🏻 thanks Elmo we will miss you!

It’s always extra fun at @sherrishowtv when I get to produce guests with epic senses of humor.

May we all sing with the confidence of new grandpa Papa Ray Romano and conquer the literal & metaphorical poison nuggets in our lives with the grace of @michellewilliams!

Big shout out to @tvmichaellee for the best grandpa apron and burp cloth ever and to @oliviasturgell & @meag_martin for associate producing two of my favorite segments of the season!
