What a wonderful day spent in the mountains of Tehachapi! Thank you so much to Mike and Beth of the Tehachapi Wine and Cattle Company for hosting us! 🍓🍷❤️ Thanks to California Breakfast Burritos for getting us all there and coordinating the day. (I'd be lost without you.)

The donkeys got lots of pets and hugs and enjoyed greeting all the visitors.

Strawberry 🍓, my donkey, was rescued by TWCC when she was a foal. She was raised at the winery, and when she was ready for a career, my wonderful friends John and Karin of the CBB took her in and began her training. At some point, I was able to convince Karin I was a worthy person of Strawberry, and she has been my donkey since. 🫏

TWCC is the original winery in Tehachapi, growing grapes at 4200 feet. The property began as a ranch house in 1888, built on a condition of marriage; Elijah Stowell had promised his new wife a house. It became known as "The house that love built." ❤️

The views of the mountain and valley are stunning! Strawberry 🍓 was particularly interested in the landscaping and wanted to smell the roses 🌹, but then she wanted to eat the roses, and we had to move on! Donkeys! 😄

Strawberry has her own wine blend! 🍷 and it's really, really good! Also, if you're like me, and sometimes have a hard time with American wines because of the added tannins, definitely give TWCC a try... no added tannins (no headache, like you would get if you're sensitive to them).

The entire staff at TWCC was amazing, and it's not just wine. I had the tri tip salad, and the rest of the group had smash burgers 🍔 which were declared THE BEST BURGER THEY'VE EVER HAD! Complete with grilled onions, melty cheese, and locally raised beef.

Come pet my ass and drink wine with me in Tehachapi this Saturday!! 🫏🍷❤️ (You know, if I ever get kicked off the gram for good, it's gonna be for my donkey jokes...)

But really, if you're looking for something to do this Saturday, 🍓 Strawberry will be at Tehachapi Wine and Cattle Company, visiting the people who literally saved her life a few years ago. I'll be drinking wine with her🍷and the California Breakfast Burritos from 12 to 3pm. **Fun fact, Strawberry has her own wine blend named after her! You know I'm going home with a couple of bottles of that. 😉

The back story... Strawberry was a foal living on a property across from TWCC. The owner wasn't local but was paying someone to feed and water the donkeys. It was a very hot summer, and that individual was not bringing enough water for the donkeys. On a very hot day, Strawberry's mom died of dehydration, and Strawberry had collapsed. This is when TWCC stepped in....

Strawberry was down and dying, and the local vet said she had hours to live. Well, that wasn't good enough. Beth and Mike of TWCC said, "we will raise the money, let's save this donkeys life!" Over $8000 of care and a week long stay at Alamo Pintado vet hospital; Strawberry 🍓 miraculously pulled through! ❤️❤️❤️

Strawberry grew up greeting visitors at the winery, and when she was ready for a job, California Breakfast Burritos took her in and started her training for pack burro racing. At some point, Karin of the CBB decided Strawberry and I were a perfect match ❤️ and, well, the rest is history... Strawberry won her first pack burro race with me in April. She is Pinkie Pie's best friend and my wake-up call every morning! (She does not sleep in, FYI.)

She will be available for snuggles and selfies if you choose to stop by! She loves carrots, kiwis, and whole bananas 🍌 if you'd like to feed my ass as well as touch it, 😜 😘 (sorry! I just can't help it! 🍑 🫏) stop by to say 👋 hi and support an amazing small heroic business.
