#WoundedKneeMassacre

The white soldiers massacred women and children.
WOMEN and CHILDREN.
It was not a battle.
💔
This deranged regime just gave the soldiers who murdered defenseless WOMEN and CHILDREN posthumous medals of honor.
This is another atrocity perpetrated upon the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island.
Current atrocities brought by the department of war & DHS… like bombing unidentified men in boats, disappearing people with no due-process, terrorizing families then separating them, torturing detained human beings, allowing people to die in detention.
The sadism and cruelty of this regime knows no bounds; it’s in the white supremacist DNA, going all the way back to the colonizers.

The mass grave. The spirits still.

Best Design of the Evening goes to…

Last night, Tierra Alysia (Kashia Pomo / Filipino) of VIVIDUS took home the coveted Best Design of the Evening (2025) award at the Indigenous Fashion Gala.

Nine top designers from across Turtle Island debuted custom looks matching this year’s theme, “Fashion For Sovereignty.” The 2nd annual gala was held at the Autry Museum of the American West in Los Angeles.

The winning designer, @tierraalysia, received a $10,000 cash prize and a handmade eagle feather trophy created by @lionelthundercloud — who also took home hardware last night. 🏆🪶

Always an inspiration, @patriciamichaels. Watch her acceptance speech as the 2024 winner of The Indigenous Fashion Collective Designer of the Year.

For over 20 years, Patricia Michaels has been producing one-of-a-kind haute couture that transcends cultures and defies fashion trends. Growing up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she was surrounded by beauty—in culture, landscape, and art, all which greatly influenced her design aesthetic. Her Native American culture is deeply rooted in New Mexico, and as a child, she spent a lot of time at Taos Pueblo where many of her family, including her grandparents, lived. In this majestic, untouched terrain, Patricia received a unique education—the environment became her teacher, and with the help of her elders, she learned to respect and honor the process of working with her hands and heart.

The “Indigenous Met Gala” is back. ⭐

This fall, the 2nd Annual Indigenous Fashion Collective Gala (@indigifashion) returns to Los Angeles on October 11, 2025, hosted at the iconic Autry Museum of the American West (@theautry). This year’s theme: “Matriarchs of the Future: Sovereign Style.”

Returning as co-chairs are Taboo (@taboo) and Quannah Chasinghorse (@quannah.rose) — two of the most powerful forces continuing to reshape visibility for Indigenous peoples in global media.

Last year’s event featured the stars of #TurtleIsland and spotlighted some of the brightest designers, including Tierra Alysia (@tierraalysia), Jason Baerg (@jasonbaerg), and Patricia Michaels (@patriciamichaels), who also received the @indigifashion Designer of the Year award.

Members of the @indigifashion collective (designers, models, artists, and more) will be the first to receive updates on this year’s gala, including when award nominations open. The collective's free membership is currently extended through 2025. 🔗
