“150 years of the Centennial State”

On this day in 1876 the state of Colorado was admitted into the union on the country’s 100th birthday. Within the 150 years of the centennial state it has seen many railroads come and go, but in 2026 you can still see locomotives almost as old as Colorado such as the 1883 Baldwin built D&RG T-12 number 168 and 1899 schenectady built RGS T-19 number 20. To celebrate the states 150th birthday, check out these historic locomotives and the rest of Colorado’s historic railroads!

What a year it has been not going to lie it’s been a struggle but I’ve gotten to see the celebration of a 100 year old class of locomotives I’ve been able to create countless memories with friends I got to get a cab ride of my favorite locomotive I got to see the concerts of two of my favorite bands/ artists Paul McCartney and 10cc got to experience film photography because of @matt.williams152 and got to spend countless hours and experiences with photographers and friends Thank you for those who made this year special I think next year will be one for the books for sure for who I tagged for a wonderful year

Having gone through the loop at Osier, D&RGW #168 pulls past Osier tank to move the @cumbrestoltecscenicrr Historic Consist into position to reload its passenger for the run down to Antonito.

All aboard! 🚂 The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad runs between Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado, covering 64 beautiful miles of historic narrow-gauge track. It winds through the southernmost part of the San Juan Mountains and climbs to 10,015 feet in Cumbres Pass, the highest point reached by any U.S. steam railroad! 🛤️

Riding with @cumbrestoltecscenicrr was truly such a fun experience. The train employees were so kind and informative, they would point out landmarks and scenic views, share fun facts about the train, and they even let us check out the boiler area during our lunch stop at Osier Station (which was also amazing). We did the “All Aboard Chama” route and highly recommend it!
