“everybody wants to join” The music is the main course of this five star meal. So how does it taste? Well, let’s kick it off with “Image”, the intro to the album. This track feels like a seductive whisper, lulling you into a false sense of security. Preparing you for the rest of what Twin Moon Sect has to offer. “url” continues this, with the track taking a more upbeat and energetic tone. A perfect transition into “Sweet Witches”, the title track. Piggybacking off what I said earlier, Sweet Witches just feels so fun. A bubbly, youthful track revealing the pleasant and magical (no pun intended) side to the Moon Girls. This track is a potent potion of joy, with each of the girls showcasing a playful and even mischievous side to their personalities. This track is Twin Moon Sect’s way of introducing you to their world, and all that comes with it. By this point, you have sealed the pact… The B-sides continue the fun, with the highs for me being “Real World”, ”Sparkle” and “Genesis”. Real World brings the tempo, the girls singing their hearts out and giving us a poppy track that brings the feelings of a girls night out. Sparkle feels as sweet as the candy the girls ate in the Sweet Witches music video, beautiful vocals coat the instrumental like a candy apple at the county fair. One thing I will say about TMS, they know how to sell you a vision. I close my eyes and find myself transported into their world. The world they’re building for us, the world they want us to experience. A track like “Chowall” reflects this perfectly, with it feeling like a soul stealing chant, hollowing your mortal shell and bringing you forward into the Moon GIrls’ divine domain. — @analog.grl for “A Misfitting in April” review.

“we’ve been hiding in plain sight” April is coming. And while we await the moment of arrival, TMS keeps us captivated with breadcrumbs. The first piece of the puzzle being the member reveals and the group teaser. Xu, Sisi, Ji, Esme, Ash and Cleo are the six members that make up this elusive group. I have to say I was absolutely floored with the quality of the reveals. The colors catch your eye instantly, the hot pinks and lilacs contrast the inky black splattered across the frame. Each member has their own quote, giving you insight into their personalities. The teaser MV gives esoteric scrapbook, giving a glimpse into the world of each member. You got girls eating soap…very uncanny. Uncanny is a word I would use to describe the feel of the drip feed of media from TMS. Each teaser hints at a deeper storyline, one that takes a much darker turn as the teasers become more and more detailed. “with this magic i have, i can show you what’s possible!” The debut album from TMS, A Misfitting in April, tells the story of the Sweet Witches–members of the cult known as Twin Moon Sect. The posters give the same feel the first teaser gave, a scrapbook filled with bits and bobs put together by our Moon Girls. The scribbles and drawing over every member in the (Ash) set of teasers gives a coloring book feel. You ever been in school and drawn little pictures on the margins of the paper? That’s what Sweet Witches feels like, existing outside the margins–living outside of society’s expectations for oneself. The thing about TMS is, they’re all young. The Sweet Witches MV feels like youth; with the girls playing games and eating candy and having sleepovers. …at least at the beginning. Then it starts getting real uncanny again, with the girls dancing around a bonfire and lifting cars above their heads. TMS wants to sell you the innocent youth, and in exchange you give them an audience to present their dark secrets to. I find it strangely ironic that towards the end of the MV they ask us the viewer to trust them. But when there’s more than meets the eye to the smiling faces in front of you, it becomes a very dangerous game. — @analog.grl for “A Misfitting in April” review

NINE Magazine ★ “A Misfitting in April” review by N4 Journalist, @analog.grl ★ Art Direction + Design: Nini “…logging on… Peekaboo! Guess who? That’s right, it’s your bestie Analog Girl back in her Digital World, and this time we got something really strange to sink our teeth into. What is TWIN MOON SECT? This question has stuck in my head for so long since they made themselves known to the world on January 24th. My curious nature led me to investigating what exactly this enigmatic group had to offer. Let’s just say they’ve got my full attention.”

NINE Magazine ★ Exclusive TMS interview by N4 Journalist, Valentina ★ Photography, Creative Direction & Styling by: N4’s very own, Kyuna (L—R: ESME, XU) V: As a group, what is something you all would like to achieve in Ktube? Will we see some solo ventures in the future or will TMS remain a group effort? I mean you all are rookies but anything could happen when you have members that positively stand out TMS: For now, TMS is completely focused on group activities. Perhaps, a subunit could be discussed in the future but as of now it will remain a group effort. V: I think we’ve covered everything but one last question. Your label has already built an invested audience, What do you have to say to your industry or future label mates that hope to make it in the same promising position as you all one day? TMS: Stay loyal to your creativity — expand upon it. If you have ideas, stir in them and build them. There’s nothing wrong with learning, asking for help and honing in on your specific craft. Don’t rush. V: Thank you for your Time, TMS! I wish you all a successful debut and career. I’ve personally planned to revisit our interview once you’ve debuted for a then and now comparison of how artists’ mindset can change overtime. 🙂‍↔️🩷 TMS: Of course! Thank you very much for having us.

NINE Magazine ★ Exclusive TMS interview by N4 Journalist, Valentina ★ Art Direction + Design: Nini V: I want to reflect back to calling back to the past (again), as a journalist, I want to make sure you incredible girls get the coverage that you deserve so with that being said, would you like to tell me any of your collective inspirations, specifically in Ktube? TMS: Of course, I see Nini as a complete pioneer of the space. She really turned it around and I’ll always hold inspiration and awe for her. Due to our experience in the 3rd generation of ktube — those groups and the climate of it then will always inspire us as well.

NINE Magazine ★ Exclusive TMS interview by N4 Journalist, Valentina ★ Photography, Creative Direction & Styling by: N4’s very own, Kyuna (L — R: JI, ASH) V: That’s really unique! I’ve seen tons of groups that were afraid to shy away from the traditional group roles which brings me to my third question — Since the beginning of fifth generation ktube, there’s been a question that continues to linger in the air and that question is who has the skills to invent something new while giving that subtle call back to the past, considering the label that you all are under, what new things can we expect in TMS lore and concept? TMS: TMS will be taking a flowery and new approach to a topic that has been touched on briefly in the past. We’re a group of young girls, theys, basking in youth whilst finding community in each other. If you look past the initial layer of that you may or may not find something deeper. TMS is hoping to push on the boundaries of duality and the expectations of young women.

NINE Magazine ★ Exclusive TMS interview by N4 Journalist, Valentina ★ Photography, Creative Direction & Styling by: N4’s very own, Kyuna (L — R: CLEO ★ & SISI ★) Hi TMS! 🩷🫶🏾 this is Valentina Iwakura! I’m the journalist hired by Nini and I would like to ask you guys a few questions regarding the buzz around your impending debut? TMS: Of course! V: Thank you for accepting this interview offer lovelies! First off I’d like to ask something the public has been absolutely wondering, who are the members? If you’re not allowed to reveal names just yet, I would appreciate a hint, maybe something that represents the members? TMS: Our wonderful lineup consists of Cleo, Esme, SiSi, Xu, Ji and Ash. V: That’s definitely a stellar lineup and the public will definitely appreciate the unique names of the members. Could you tell me anything about the positions? Will TMS be more vocal focused like their processors or will they bring other things to the table like visuals, dancing, and overall performance? TMS: TMS is focused more so on unique vocal technique and interesting production. As for our traditional positions, they’re all vocalists, SiSi is our visual and Ji is our main dancer — they don’t go much further than that. Our non traditional roles include: Ash as our Media Spokesperson Esme as the Technician behind Ash SiSi, and Xu both are behind recruitment Ji is our Weather Pattern Specialist and Cleo is focused on ground work manipulation
