A T H X G A M E S - Liverpool '26

I posted a lot over the weekend about our experience at Athx and it was us transforming from the big fish in little waters into minors in the big leagues.

We only signed up a couple of months prior and trained the best we could around personal lives, significant injuries to us, various commitments, other sporting commitments etc.

We didn't realise not only how tough it would be, but other factors like competition nerves and "racing". This being said, it was an amazing experience for both of us, so much so that there is talk of "when" we do this next year. The sense of community, breeding healthy competition and hyping everyone up was amazing (even if you accidentally knock a baton out of a fellow runners hand - we were like bessie mates in the recovery zone!!)

Score wise, outside of the Strength were we more than held our own, we hoped to rank higher than we did on the other stations, but the competition was fierce and insane. We gave it our best shot and PB'd in most places.

However, there is absolutely no-one else I would have wanted to do my first competition with than Lisa, we have been through some up and down times recently and we actually were not in the headspace to compete last year. This year, we really worked hard on our team ethic, as well as our training. It's not easy to compete with someone where you are with them 24/7. However, we genuinely worked hard and smart together, dialling in on the team ethic, truly understanding strengths and weaknesses of each other, and using non-verbal communication to figure it, not to mention leaving ego at the door.

The work in the gym has, actually done a lot for us out of the gym. So not only were we physically stronger but we become emotionally stronger as well. Our self-made finishing photo, for me, was a sign of pure achievement; battling through tough workouts, together as a team

Thank you to everyone we have tagged in the post, we could have done it without you all!
