The atmospheric new Irish original series transports viewers to Ireland’s rugged west coast, where a shocking murder draws a former New York detective into a dangerous investigation.

Set against the breathtaking landscape of Connemara, THE GALWAY BAY MURDERS follows seasoned NYPD detective Nora Savage (Kate Mulgrew), who arrives in the west of Ireland hoping to escape a traumatic past and find a quieter life.

However, her plans are shattered when the body of a young woman is discovered in a bog, drawing Nora into a complex murder investigation alongside the local Garda team.

As the investigation deepens, the detectives uncover a trail leading to Free Farm, an ambitious organisation where young people live and work together on sustainable farming and scientific research. Beneath its seemingly idyllic exterior lies a tangled web of secrets, competing loyalties and hidden motives, with potentially devastating consequences.

Combining a compelling murder mystery with richly drawn characters, dark humour and spectacular scenery, the six-part drama explores how far people will go to protect their secrets and the lengths one woman will go to uncover the truth.

The ensemble cast also includes John Connors, India Mullen, Cillian O’Sullivan and Jack Rowan.

The Galway Bay Murders is created and written by Eithne Verling, a former archaeologist and museum curator whose deep personal connection to the region informs the drama’s distinctive storytelling. The series marks Verling’s television writing debut, with all six episodes written specifically for Mulgrew following a chance meeting between the pair in Galway that developed into a close friendship.

The series is directed by Joe Lawlor and Christine Molloy and produced by Two Cities Television (part of STV Studios), Keeper Pictures and AS I AM Productions.

@bbc @two_cities_tv @theangelagriffin binged all 4 series of Blue Lights over the last week. What a great show. If this is the end, then they've tied it up beautifully. Will be sad not to check in with the fabulous ensenble cast one more time. All the cast were terrific but a special shout out to Richard Dormer as Gerry Cliff. Hopefully will see you all again. 💙

Shhh…Blue Lights Episode 3 is on tonight at 9pm on BBC 1. I loved this episode. So different from what I was expecting my first BL ep. The script always made me think of the great conspiracy movies of the 70’s. Which might explain why the police station feel like the newsroom in All The President’s Men. Ending the episode with a specially commissioned song by @arboristmusic was the cherry on the cake. Here’s some beautiful frames…and
