Hazel harvest/coppice and burn @shara.anslow! Shara wanted to coppice a few of her hazel plants for future basketmaking material, so she invited us out to help. What a lovely day! We experimented with burning intensities to stimulate long, straight new growth for baskets. Can't wait to see how the plants respond in the coming year. The hazels buds were already starting to pop. We used some of the wild, uncultivated growth to start a few random weave basket nests to donate to an installation that @prattcandaceg and @cbbg.baskets are coordinating later this year (last photo). Thank you for the beautiful day, Shara and Sherrie! #hazelharvest #hazel #basketryhazel #basketrymaterials #hazelcoppice #hazelburn #basketmaker #basketry #randomweavebasket #177dayscreative2026

@cbbg.baskets tule and cattail harvest at the Estella Matilda Happ Memorial Wetland - a part of Beaver Creek Marsh on the Oregon coast. Thanks to coordination by @twofeatherssher and Megan Garvey of @wetlandsconservancy, about 12 Columbia Basin Basketry Guild members got to harvest some late-season bulrush and cattails. Some accessed the marsh by boat, while others went by land - but all came home with lots of material to work with. A huge thank you to Sherrie, Megan and The Wetlands Conservancy! #wetlandsconservancy #columbiabasinbasketryguild #tule #bulrush #cattail #basketweavers #weavingmaterial #estellamatildahapp #beavercreekmarsh

Cherry bark harvest with @cbbg.baskets I had such a good time learning from @twofeatherssher and chatting with @florafiberdye as well as all the others who gathered for this harvest event. I love this part of the season. Harvesting is a bit like taking in inspiration before the outpouring of creativity that comes after the materials are processed. #cherrybark #naturalmatetials #gatesofmystery #weaving #fiberart #woven #fiberartist #fiberarts #weavingart #wovenart #weaver #basketryart #harvest #barkharvest #barkbasket #barkbasketry #contemporarybasketry #contemporaryweaving #contemporaryart #artinprocess #wip
